Michael Mawn Withdraws From Freeride World Tour 2026 Rémi Benamo To Step In

Due to personal reasons, Michael Mawn (USA) has withdrawn from the 2026 Freeride World Tour by Peak Performance. Mawn’s place will be taken by Rémi Benamo (SUI), the first non-qualified rider on the official list. 2025 marks Benamo’s first season on the Tour, where he quickly impressed with strong riding and a standout second-place finish in Val Thorens.

Although he narrowly missed the Cut in the latter half of the season, he now returns to the roster, ready to take on the world’s most iconic freeride venues with renewed determination.

A former halfpipe rider, Michael Mawn has now found his calling in tackling the challenges of narrow couloirs and exposed areas on the mountain faces. His transition to freeriding came after a serious brain injury during halfpipe training. Since making his debut on the FWT Qualifier 2019 circuit, he has consistently delivered strong performances.

Mawn has consistently performed over the last few seasons earning him two podium wins in 2024 and one in 2025 which landed him 7th in the 2025 overall rankings.

“This unexpected wildcard for the 2026 season is a big surprise, and I’m incredibly excited and motivated to be back on the Tour. I’m looking forward to an epic season ahead, it’s going to be amazing.” said Rémi Benamo

The entire FWT community sends its heartfelt support and best wishes to Michael Mawn and looks forward to seeing him back on snow soon.
