Kappl Launches With New Diabahn – Sitour Supplies Information Systems And Digital POS solution

The new Diasbahn lift opened on December 12th, and the snowfall of recent weeks has already provided the Paznaun Valley with excellent conditions. For the operator, the new lift represents a modernization of the ski area's access point. For sitour, the project is another step in a long-standing partnership.
As part of the new cable car project, two state-of-the-art panoramic information systems were installed, serving as important and central orientation points for skiers. Technically equipped with LEDs integrated into the panorama and LED screens whose content can be updated in seconds, one panoramic information system is located at the valley station, the other directly at the exit point at the mountain station. They display up-to-date operating information for the lifts and slopes, a quick and concise overview of the entire ski area using a panorama, safety instructions, and much more. These modern information systems are complemented by a digital overhead ticket counter system consisting of four LED screens. Here, too, maximum flexibility is offered for content display: everything from prices and live images from the ski area to event information is possible. These sitour solutions are among the components that now help manage the operation of a mountain lift, not in the spotlight like the new gondola lift in Kappl, but as part of the infrastructure that supports its operation.
For the Kappl mountain lifts, the interplay of these functions is crucial. Managing Director Andreas Kleinheinz puts it this way: “With the new Diasbahn lift, we are not only improving our transport capacity and service, but also the entire operational organization surrounding access to the ski area. For this to work, clear wayfinding for guests and, consequently, reliable information systems are also essential. This is the quality we expect, and sitour has been delivering it to us for many years.”
Sitour also sees Kappl as an example of how infrastructure is being developed step by step. Managing Director Franz X. Gruber explains: “ The new Diasbahn cable car demonstrates how modern infrastructure is developed step by step. We are privileged to contribute to this by ensuring that the information for guests is clear and concise, and by providing systems tailored to the specific needs of the operation .”
The information services for ski guests in Kappl also include several webcams and a drone. These enhance the view of the ski area with live videos, live weather information, and live snow conditions. This data is not only integrated into the destination's digital channels but is also distributed worldwide through a media partnership, both on TV and online via tourism-relevant partner portals, mobile devices, and connected apps.
With the opening of the Diasbahn cable car, Kappl begins the 2025/26 season with a noticeable modernization at the entrance. And with a winter that showed early on that it was ready.
