Alta Badia Ready For 40th Edition Of FIS Ski World Cup

The Gran Risa is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its first race, held in 1985: a competition that captured the world of skiing and, year after year, has seen some of the greatest international champions descend its spectacular slopes. This iconic course has carved lines of glory into the snow, witnessing the emotions, courage, and passion of an entire valley.

A PHOTO EXHIBITION TO CELEBRATE THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY

To mark this important milestone, a photo exhibition set up in the ski area tells the story of the Gran Risa through images that convey speed, determination, and legend. It is a tribute to everyone who has contributed to making this slope great, and to Freddy Planinschek, the official photographer of the event since its first edition, who has captured every turn, every victory, and every emotion through his lens.

The exhibition consists of 20 images, placed along the most scenic slopes of Alta Badia, offering enthusiasts a unique journey through sport, memory, and beauty. This has been made possible thanks to the support of two key partners: Isifer, a local artisanal company specializing in metalwork, which created the supports for the images, and ILMeteo, the meteorological partner of the Alta Badia World Cup races for several years, enabling precise weather forecasting for even better slope preparation.

THE 2025 TROPHIES: A CELEBRATION OF THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Alpine Ski World Cup races, the Organizing Committee, through the trophies created by artist Daniele Basso, celebrates and thanks the community and the region.

“It is a mirrored steel disc, crafted with micro-laser engraving for the 40th anniversary, both heterogeneous and digital, crossed by the layout of the legendary Gran Risa slope, where the competition becomes real and where the ‘Gigant,’ a landmark of the Dolomites since 2015, stands out,” explains the artist. “It is also a special year for me,” Basso continues, marking his 10th commission for designing the race trophies. “It is a great honour for which I am grateful to the Committee, and a responsibility I experience almost as a local, given the friendships and deep emotions that tie me to Alta Badia.”

The Alpine skiing champions will be awarded with Valdobbiadene DOCG Brut sparkling wine from Drusian, presented with a custom label celebrating the event. For this special edition, the Alpine Ski World Cup Alta Badia and Drusian have chosen to focus primarily on people: this led to a collaboration with the ALI Social Cooperative Society of Valdobbiadene, an organization that has been hosting young people with disabilities since 1983. They created drawings that were transformed into unique bands to decorate the bottles for the event.

HOSPITALITY AREAS: SPORT, MUSIC, LIFESTYLE, AND CULINARY EXCELLENCE

Under the guidance of Andy Varallo, the Organizing Committee continues to enhance the event experience, combining sport and lifestyle through three hospitality areas. Fans can watch the races from the grandstand at the parterre or choose one of the exclusive spaces inspired by the values of the region: fine cuisine, the Dolomites, and Ladin culture.

The LEITNER VIP Lounge, located on the rooftop overlooking the Gran Risa, offers an elegant setting to enjoy gourmet creations crafted on Sunday by chefs Herbert Hintner (Restaurant Zur Rose, 1 Michelin star, Appiano) and Pasquale Tozzi (Restaurant La Farmacia Bistrot, Chiari), and on Monday by Tina Marcelli from Johanns Restaurant in Molini di Tures and Johann Lerchner from Lerchner’s Restaurant in San Lorenzo di Sebato, both Michelin Green Star awardees. Desserts are prepared by pâtissier Ricky Wieser. The modern interiors, designed in collaboration with Pietra Dolomia, also feature a wine bar and more private areas, with continuous service throughout the day. Guests can taste the finest South Tyrolean products, such as speck and cheeses, in collaboration with IDM Alto Adige, as well as wines from Cantine Merano.
The Red Bull Energy Station offers a dynamic environment with a terrace directly overlooking the finish area, DJ music, and an atmosphere inspired by Formula 1 and MotoGP paddocks. It is designed to allow guests to experience the event all day long, with breakfasts, buffets, and energizing drinks.

The Gran Risa Chalet represents the more traditional side: a wooden space dedicated to Ladin culture, where guests can enjoy typical dishes and meet partners Forst, Oakley, and Movimënt. This year, it also features an area dedicated to Mastercard guests.
