Camelbak Takes On The Cold: The Snow Range That Keeps You Hydrated Even Below Zero

A day on the slopes, cold air, altitude and physical effort can cause the body to lose up to 2 litres of water without us even realising it. Hydration at altitude isn’t just about performance: it affects reflexes, temperature regulation and the risk of injury.

Yet staying hydrated remains one of the most overlooked aspects of winter equipment.

The issue is also technical: below freezing, traditional hydration systems freeze. In just a few minutes the reservoir tube can ice up, blocking the water flow and turning the litres you’re carrying into unnecessary weight. And taking your pack off to drink – whether you’re clipped into skis or a splitboard, sitting on a chairlift or crossing exposed terrain – simply isn’t practical.

CamelBak Zephyr Pro

This is why CamelBak engineered its snow range around a clear idea: keeping water accessible at all times, even at –10°C. All packs – SnoBlast 22, Powderhound 12 and Zoid – feature the Therminator™ Harness, which routes the reservoir tube inside the insulated shoulder straps, protected from the cold. Built to handle harsh winter conditions and technical gear, the range is complemented by the Thrive line of insulated tumblers and mugs, ideal for a day out on the slopes and the everyday use, with temperature retention up to 19 hours.

Three packs, three different approaches

Three models, three ways of moving in the mountains, but the same CamelBak DNA: insulation, instant access to hydration and materials designed to work with sharp, winter-specific equipment such as ski edges, skis, snowboards and crampons. From the high-capacity SnoBlast 22 to the more technical Powderhound 12, and the ultra-light Zoid that fits discreetly under a jacket, each pack is built for a distinct style of winter adventure.

CamelBak Snoblast 22 - Full-day pack

22L capacity (20L + 2L Crux reservoir) | RRP £114.99 / €129.99

The SnoBlast 22 is designed for full days on the mountain. The Tri-Zip system provides fast, effortless access to your gear even on a lift, while the attachment points allow you to carry skis or a snowboard hands-free.

It’s built for demanding winter conditions, featuring a tough P450D fabric with TPU coating and DWR C0 finish, paired with a solution-dyed P135D liner that’s water-repellent and fluorine-free. The Snowshield™ back panel prevents snow build-up against your back.

Inside, there’s room for extra layers, avalanche safety equipment, snacks and essentials, while the removable stability belt enhances comfort and control.

CamelBak Powderhound 12 - Award-Winning Compact Design ISPO 2022

12L capacity (10L + 2L Crux reservoir) | RRP £104.99 / €119.99

Winner of the ISPO Award 2022, the Powderhound 12 is a lightweight yet highly capable snow pack engineered for chairlift laps, short bootpacks and all-mountain days. Like the rest of the CamelBak snow line, it uses reinforced materials (P450D + P135D solution-dyed liner with DWR C0) and SnowShield technology to shed snow and moisture.

The Lift Access QR (Quick Release) system lets you unclip a shoulder strap while on the lift to reach the side pockets without removing the pack – even with bulky gloves. Gear loops allow you to carry skis vertically or diagonally, as well as a snowboard. A removable stability belt and integrated helmet carry complete the setup.

Inside, dedicated sleeves organise your shovel, probe and emergency kit. - Weight: 850 g

CamelBak Zoid - the minimal, under-jacket pack

3L capacity (1L + 2L Crux reservoir) | RRP £89.99 / €99.99

The Zoid is the smallest and lightest pack in the CamelBak snow range: an ultra-low-profile design that fits comfortably under a jacket without restricting movement. The reservoir tube is fully insulated and routed through the shoulder straps to prevent freezing on exposed ascents or cold lifts.

Constructed with the same reinforced materials as the rest of the range – P450D with TPU coating and a water-repellent P135D liner – it’s built to withstand snow, ice and contact with sharp gear. The pack includes a helmet carry and the Lift Access QR system for quick on-lift access. - Weight: 510 g

CamelBak Thrive Tumbler & Mugs: beyond the mountain

The Thrive line extends CamelBak’s hydration expertise into everyday life, offering insulated tumblers and mugs designed to deliver consistent thermal performance in any setting – from alpine huts to the morning commute. All models are made from double-wall vacuum-insulated stainless steel, engineered to maintain temperature while preventing external condensation, even with ice-cold drinks.

The leak-proof lid is certified to withstand real-world use – bags, packs, car cup holders and daily movement – while the integrated silicone bumper improves grip and protects the base from dents and impacts. The slim profile fits most vehicle cup holders and CamelBak packs, making Thrive a natural extension of CamelBak’s outdoor range. All components are dishwasher-safe, including the lid.

A line built to accompany skiing, winter commuting and long days in the mountains, keeping drinks at the ideal temperature from first chair to last lift.
