Austria's Lift Co’s Invite You To GO FOR SKI School Ski Day 2025

On December 17, 2025, the Austrian mountains will once again belong to the schools: The Austrian cable car companies are hosting the GO FOR SKI school ski day and will be providing free ski tickets for students and teachers. The aim of the initiative is to inspire young people to enjoy winter sports, outdoor exercise, and shared experiences in nature.

The GO FOR SKI school ski day has become a regular feature in the winter sports calendar – and in 2025 schools throughout Austria are invited to spend a special day in the snow.

The participating ski resorts will provide free day passes for students and teachers on December 17, 2025. The focus is on easy access to winter sports and the joy of exercising together.

“Children and young people need experiences that empower them. A day in the mountains provides exactly that – it uniquely combines exercise, nature, and community,” emphasizes Franz Hörl, Chairman of the Cable Car Association at the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ). Especially in a time of increasing digitalization and academic pressure, it is important to create a balance and motivate young people to engage in active exercise.

“With the GO FOR SKI school ski day, we want to awaken enthusiasm for winter sports at an early age,” Hörl continued. “Because those who have positive experiences on the mountain as children are very likely to come back later – and remain connected to the sport for a lifetime.”

With this initiative, the Austrian cable car companies are sending a clear message about the importance of outdoor exercise, social interaction, and the unique power of shared experiences in nature. The school ski day aims to enable as many children and young people as possible to discover these values in a playful and experiential way.
