Golm’s New Grüneck Mountain Restaurant Officially Opened.

After approximately two years of construction, the new Grüneck mountain restaurant on the Golm adventure mountain opened today. The modern new building replaces the previous panoramic restaurant, which was over 50 years old, and places a strong emphasis on regionality, sustainability, and the further tourism development of the Montafon region.
At an altitude of almost 2,000 meters, visitors can expect a diverse range of offerings: The upper floor houses the spacious self-order restaurant Grüneck with 400 indoor seats and another 400 on sheltered loggias and the sun terrace. A large play area ensures that even the youngest guests are entertained. Orders can be conveniently placed via smartphone directly from the table; traditional cash registers are also available. On the ground floor, the à la carte restaurant Feineck invites guests to enjoy regional cuisine and high-quality specialties from mid-December – both in summer and winter. The new building also houses a ski kindergarten, ski rental, sports shop, and the ski school office. A workshop and the new snow groomer garage are located on the lower level.
Challenging construction project in an alpine location
The new building was constructed in two compact phases, each lasting six months and presenting significant challenges. The exposed location at 1,900 meters, a steep and sometimes difficult-to-access transport route, and rapidly changing weather conditions made logistics demanding. That a building of this quality could be realized under these conditions is a remarkable team effort – also thanks to numerous regional companies that contributed their expertise and reliability to the project's success. "With an investment of 35 million euros, the new Grüneck mountain restaurant not only seamlessly connects to the existing attractions of the Golm adventure mountain, but also appeals to a new segment of visitors and makes a valuable contribution to the overall development of tourism offerings in the Montafon region," said Gerd Wegeler, member of the board of directors of illwerke vkw AG.
Sustainable architecture and modern technology
The new building consciously prioritizes sustainable materials and transparent architecture, offering panoramic views from almost every seat. A key design criterion was family-friendliness – from seating areas and restrooms to play areas. The building also sets standards in terms of technology: energy-efficient LED lighting with occupancy and daylight control, along with a heat pump system that uses drainage water as a heat source, significantly reduces energy consumption. A modern ventilation system with heat recovery completes the system.
Culinary delights with distinction
As a member of "bewusstmontafon," the restaurant focuses on regional products and partnerships. Confirmation of this approach is this year's Vorarlberg Tourism Award. The "Specialties from the Montafon Stone Sheep" project, which took place at the beginning of the year as part of a culinary week at the former Panorama Restaurant Grüneck, received the top prize. "This award is a wonderful confirmation of our efforts to make regionality and culinary delights a high-quality experience in a self-service restaurant," said Judith Grass, Managing Director of Golm Silvretta Lünersee Tourismus GmbH. Numerous guests were able to see this for themselves today at the official opening ceremony of the new Grüneck mountain restaurant. They followed the guided tours of the building with interest and were impressed by the modern architecture and technical sophistication. Those interested can see for themselves from December 6th to 8th during the Grüneck Opening Days. Guided tours and exciting insights into the new building will also be offered during these days.
