Ski Club of Great Britain Reports Strong January Platinum Renewal Patterns & Insurance Performance

With the largest group of Ski Club Platinum members renewing their insurance policies in January, now is the time to consider the type of policies available – the Ski Club work with Marsh and Millstream Underwriting Ltd to provide an insurance package that is one of the most robust policies on the market, covering skiers both off-piste and heli-skiing as well as having a proven pay-out rate that’s way above industry standards.

23% of The Ski Club of Great Britain’s members renew their Platinum Membership package during January. This is the highest renewal concentration in the annual cycle and underlines the continued demand for comprehensive, ski-specific insurance at the height of the winter season.

Alongside strong renewals, the Ski Club has confirmed a 94% pay-out rate on insurance claims across its policies. This compares with an industry average of 52%, positioning the Club as one of the most reliable specialist providers of ski and travel insurance available to UK skiers.

For the 2025-26 winter season, it's possible for members to add single trip extensions to their policies that normally include 31 days of skiing, to 60, 90 or 120 days, making the policies ideal for anyone that is spending a season in the Alps or further afield.

The Club’s insurance portfolio is built around two core product families:

  • Platinum Membership. Platinum combines full Ski Club membership with an annual multi-trip travel and ski-insurance policy. Designed for frequent skiers, the cover includes medical and repatriation protection up to £10 million, as well as off-piste skiing without a guide, skiing outside marked resort boundaries and race training. Platinum members are covered for up to 60 winter-sports days per year, with 31 days available per trip as standard and optional extensions for longer stays. Membership benefits include access to the Ski Club’s Reps, Freshtracks holidays, partner discounts, SKI Magazine delivered through the door plus additional member services.
  • Gold and Diamond Standalone Insurance. The Gold and Diamond policies offer flexible ski and travel-insurance options, available for all skiers and with a 15% discount for Ski Club members. These policies include cover for off-piste skiing without a guide, backcountry and touring disciplines, heliskiing, and other advanced winter activities under the Ski Club’s Activity Pack 1. Policyholders can choose single-trip or multi-trip cover, with up to 45 winter-sports days available each year and a 24-day single-trip limit. Diamond includes higher limits for some elements such as cancellation and curtailment, while retaining the core protection found in Gold.

Across all policies, the Ski Club places significant emphasis on clarity, specialist design and reliable claims handling — reflected in the 94% pay out rate.

James Gambrill, COO, from the Ski Club of Great Britain, said: “Our Platinum Membership provides a policy that not only covers you across the whole mountain but also has an impressive pay-out rate, the most important measure of any insurance policy. January is our highest volume of renewals. We’re glad to provide a service that keeps skiers covered across a range of activities in the mountains and beyond across the year as the insurance covers all types of holiday travel."

The Ski Club has offered ski insurance for more than 40 years and continues to refine its products to meet the needs of the UK snowsports community.

Ski Club adult membership starts from £90 per person annually. Platinum membership, including annual European insurance, costs from £267 (under 25) or £302 (age 35-50). A full price list can be found online here > Platinum Insurance
