Ski Club Of Great Britain Announces Appointment Of New CEO Darren Neylon

The Ski Club of Great Britain Council is pleased to confirm that it has selected Darren Neylon to be the new Chief Executive Officer for the organisation.

Darren has a wide range of experience highly relevant to the multi-faceted operations of the Ski Club having worked as a Managing Director in finance, tourism and retail sectors with his previous positions at companies Coopers & Lybrand, Macquarie Bank (Australia), NM Rothschild (UK), SuperBreak and The Original Tour.

As well as his career experience Darren also brings his enthusiasm for sport to the Ski Club, he is a keen skier and cyclist, and with past roles as a Board Member for British Cycling’s Yorkshire division and member of the Institute of Sport Management has insight into sports organizations.

Originally from Australia he learned to ski in Mt. Buller, Mt. Hotham and Falls Creek while studying Economics at Melbourne University.

Darren’s passion for skiing has had a great influence on his life, having met his wife Juliette on a ski trip to Val d’Isere in the 1980s, their three children also love skiing, the eldest two having worked ski seasons in Courchevel.

His appointment comes after an extensive and robust five-month recruitment and selection process, led by Warren Partners.

The Chairman of the Ski Club, Malcolm Bentley said: ‘We are delighted to have Darren joining the Ski Club after a successful search that offered high calibre candidates. We wish the Club to be ambitious in mapping out and following a medium-term development plan and Darren’s appointment is fundamental to achieving this at a potentially exciting time for the Club to widen its appeal to a great range of skiers and snowboarders, whilst remaining true to our heritage and loyal members.’

On being appointed, Darren Neylon said: “I am very excited by the prospect of joining the Ski Club of Great Britain in a sector that I and my family are passionate about. I’m keen to apply my corporate finance, ecommerce and sports management experience to the benefit of the club, including a focus on the value proposition behind membership, the expansion of the club’s commercial activities, the enhancement of grass roots participation activities in the domestic scene, and the sustainability of the club’s marvellous legacy.”

Darren will start with the Ski Club in their new Wimbledon office on March 13th after a well-deserved ski holiday with his family!
