Park City Highlights News For Winter 25 - 26

Park City in Utah is home to two resorts: Park City Mountain and Deer Valley Resort. Park City Mountain is the largest resort in the US, featuring two base areas: Mountain Village and Canyons Village. Deer Valley is a ski-only luxury resort known for its exceptional service, meticulously groomed slopes, and upscale guest experience. It’s currently undergoing a major transformation through its Expanded Excellence Initiative. Together, both resorts, along with Utah’s Olympic Park, will serve as key venues for the 2034 Winter Olympic Games.

Reaching Park City could not be easier; it’s just 35 minutes’ drive from Salt Lake City Airport. Once there, guests can enjoy world-class experiences suitable for all levels, plus quality, consistent snow conditions and robust snow-making facilities throughout the season.

This winter, skiers can explore nearly 100 new ski runs in Deer Valley Resort due to its incredible expansion; stay at new hotels or board the new 10-person Sunrise Gondola from Canyons Village in Park City Mountain; experience stargazing at one of Utah’s otherworldly Dark Sky Parks; learn from the Shoshone Indigenous Peoples at The Lodge at Blue Sky; and watch top athletes do battle during the FIS Freestyle World Cup. Please find more information below. If you would like any more details, or images, please just let me know.

NEW: Deer Valley Resort’s ski terrain has more than doubled in size, ready for the upcoming ski season

Deer Valley Resort is currently undergoing an incredible expansion, which will see nearly 100 new ski runs (3,700 acres – the largest increase of skiable terrain in resort history) linked by seven new lifts including the new 10-passenger East Village Express Gondola. Upon completion, Deer Valley Resort will have more than doubled in size, offering 5,726 acres of skiable terrain, making it one of the largest ski resorts in North America. Part of Park City, Deer Valley’s atmosphere and accommodation makes it stand out. Deer Valley limits the number of skiers on the mountain each day, and guests are encouraged to purchase lift tickets, lodging, ski lessons, and rental products in advance. Winter lift tickets are currently on sale from $99 / £74 per adult (age 13-64) per day.

NEW: Sunrise Gondola replacing the Sunrise chairlift to improve circulation and access from Canyons Village

Park City Mountain’s Sunrise chairlift will be replaced by a 6,500 foot, 10-passenger gondola, to improve circulation, reduce wait times, and increase access from Canyons Village to the Red Pine area. Additional enhancements include expanded beginner and children’s ski areas, an upgraded Red Pine Lodge dining experience, and improved teaching terrain for ski and ride school guests – ensuring a more enjoyable experience for guests of all ages and skill levels. The base terminal of the gondola will be located next to Pendry Park City, Hyatt Centric Park City, and Lift Park City Condos, all of which offer a great place to start or finish a day on the slopes. The new gondola is also being built with shelter in mind; therefore, it follows the terrain contours more closely to protect it from the north wind, and the cabins will have greater weight that provides stability. The gondola should open at the beginning of the 2025/26 winter season. A six-day Epic Pass costs from $640 / £476 per adult (age 13 +) and from $333 / £248 per child (age 5-12).

NEW: Don't miss the opportunity to experience stargazing with Pendry Park City

The five-star Pendry Park City, in Park City, Utah, now offers a spectacular, private, Dark Sky Stargazing & Mythology experience for those keen to learn more about the night sky. During this three-hour workshop, guests will join their Compass Adventure Guide for an evening of stargazing, storytelling, and adventure at a local State Park. Utah’s State Parks are certified International Dark Sky locations, with many boasting the darkest skies in the state, resulting from the surrounding hillsides and mountains providing a blockade for any surrounding light exposure. So, sit back and enjoy an evening under the stars and journey into the celestial past – just remember to wrap up warm during the winter! The private experience costs from $500 / £368 for up to two guests. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. A week’s stay at Pendry Park City, in a double room, sleeping two, costs from $395 / £291 per night.

NEW: The Lodge at Blue Sky launches brand-new Sage Ceremony for their guests

Created to mirror and make the most of the land, The Lodge at Blue Sky, just a short drive from Park City, Utah, is a 4,000 acre luxury wellness retreat that is designed to restore. Home to 46 rooms, plus a farm-to-table restaurant run by an award-winning chef, it’s the wealth of activities that sets this place apart. This year, the Lodge has launched a brand-new Sage Ceremony and Stories experience with the Shoshone. The Shoshone are Indigenous Peoples based in various parts of the US – during this opportunity, Chief Darren Parry shares his culture with guests, leading a private sage ceremonial blessing and cultural heritage presentation discussing lessons in reciprocity, environmental stewardship, and the Bear River Massacre restoration project. He also showcases an array of museum quality Shoshone beading and weaving artifacts as he tells stories passed down from his grandmother and other tribal elders. During the 90 minutes, he will explain the significance of the sage ceremony and offer to smudge the guests and give a Shoshone name blessing. Prices on request. A week’s stay at The Lodge at Blue Sky, in a two-bedroom signature suite, sleeping two, costs from $44,198 / £32,980 total including taxes and fees.

NEW: The Ascent Park City, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, to open in Canyons Village

Opening in January 2026, The Ascent, will be the newest, boutique ski hotel in Park City with 120 residences. Located next to Canyons Golf Course, just outside the busy hub of Canyons Village, and moments from Frostwood gondola, it’s easy to explore all Park City has to offer – on and off the slopes. Guests staying at The Ascent will find peace and balance: with indoor and outdoor living spaces, yoga, mountain vistas and access to the Waldorf Astoria – home to a spa and fine dining restaurant – opposite. Bookings will be open shortly.

Pack City Peaks Hotel to become Hotel Thaynes following a multi-million dollar development

Based in Park City’s Deer Valley Resort, the 128-key Park City Peaks Hotel will become Hotel Thaynes, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel by Marriott following a $21 million (approximately £15.5 million) renovation. The revamp is set to be completed by winter, and its renovation will add ‘warm and electric design’, including bold colours and art installations, to common areas and guest rooms. The renovation will also see balconies, spa-inspired bathrooms with walk-in showers, and even ski storage areas added to select rooms. Hotel Thaynes will also showcase indoor and outdoor pools, an expanded sauna, a fitness centre, fire pits and an outdoor barbeque area. In addition, the on-site restaurant, Versante Hearth + Bar, will feature an updated design. A week’s stay in a King Room costs from $2,043 / £1,509 total (two sharing) including breakfast.

The FIS Freestyle World Cup returns to Deer Valley Resort in January

Welcoming the world’s most elite skiers, the Intermountain Health Freestyle International Ski World Cup, presented by Stifel, will return to Deer Valley from 16-18 January 2026. As part of the qualification lead-up to the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, this annual event, held on the resort’s world-renowned slopes, showcases the globe’s top athletes as they compete in moguls, dual moguls, and aerials. Events are free and open to the public.

Experience a cinematic stay in Park City

Beyond the slopes, Park City is gaining recognition in the world of film and television. One standout example is The Mountainhead House, which features in the Mountainhead film that came out earlier this year. The film follows four billionaire friends on a secluded weekend retreat as the world goes through major turmoil, and while opinions of the storyline may vary, there’s no denying the House’s star power. It’s a striking, contemporary property spanning over 1,300 square metres, with panoramic views of the Deer Valley mountains. And its bold architectural design, expansive open-plan layout, and enviable location have made it a scene-stealer. The property is available to rent through Luxe Haus, offering visitors a chance to experience a truly cinematic stay in Park City.
