Ramsau - Rittisberg Is Building A New Combined Lift, Leitner ‘Chondola’

A total of eight million euros will flow into the new transportation system consisting of gondolas and armchairs. The Kombibahn will open on the Rittisberg at the beginning of the winter season 2022/2023.
Just in time for the celebration of the 50th anniversary, a major investment is made on the Rittisberg: a combination lift made of chairs and gondolas. The new “TMX 6-10 Rittisberg” transport system is soon to replace the four-seater chairlift that leads to the mountain station next to the Rittisstadl. Construction work will start next spring. The new lift should go into operation as early as the start of the 2022/2023 season. A total of eight million euros will flow into the new conveyor system. “We look back with pride on the past fifty years, during which the Rittisberg has developed into a popular family excursion destination and scores points in both winter and summer. We want to start the next fifty years with a large investment. With the new cable car we will not only increase the quality of transport, but also create new offers, ”says Rittisbahn operator Manfred Engelhardt. For him, the new combined lift is an important step towards leading the adventure mountain into the future. After all, the future transport system should not only bring skiers comfortably up the mountain.
Create new winter offers
Engelhardt sees new potential for the adventure mountain especially in the areas of cross-country skiing, winter and snowshoeing: "These sports have become more important in recent years, which is why we want to create a corresponding offer." With the combination of gondolas and armchairs, the new Bahn has the necessary flexibility in the ascent aid. The catering establishments are also among the beneficiaries. With the new lift, every hut on the Rittisberg will be accessible to cross-country skiers, snowshoe hikers and winter hikers for the first time. Another plus point: The new combined lift also makes it easier to transport the sledges for the illuminated night toboggan run on the Rittisberg.
Expansion of the summer experience
The family offer on the Rittisberg is not only expanded in winter, but also in summer. The start is made with a mountain cart route, which should go into operation as early as 2023. The all-terrain, three-wheeled vehicles ensure rapid downhill fun and already promise an absolute addictive factor. The “Kali-Erlebnisrundweg”, which is intended to make exercise in the great outdoors even more tasty for children, is also being planned. “In the past few years, we have already tailored our offer to families step by step. We want to continue on this path in the future and look forward to being able to inspire with new highlights, ”says Engelhardt.
Strengthen the entire region
The new combined lift and the expansion of the tourist offer should also increase the number of visitors, both in winter and in summer. And not just on the Rittisberg. “This new infrastructure will strengthen tourism throughout Schladming-Dachstein. Not only the Rittisberg, but also the accommodation providers and restaurants will benefit from this investment ”, Engelhardt is certain. After all, the new combined lift should make the Rittisberg and thus the entire Schladming-Dachstein region even more attractive.
