Investments And New Developments At Mount Sutton

With November having already brought over 60 cm of snow to the summit of Mont Sutton and the snow cannons now firing up as soon as the temperature allows, many are eagerly awaiting the start of the mountain's 65th ski season. Before the resort opens, scheduled for Friday, December 5th, several new features are to be discovered for the upcoming season, thanks to $725,000 in investments!
New developments on the ground
In addition to the TechnoAlpin fixed-tower fan on display for increased snowmaking power, a significant investment of $725,000 has been made in operations to boost productivity! This includes a new snow groomer with a Bison X Winch Stage V winch, which will soon be making its first runs, as well as a new Prinoth Husky milling head for the Sno-Cat 2000 snow groomer and the addition of rolling stock. Furthermore, everyone will be pleased to see that all the cushions on Chairlift II have been replaced!
Other new features to note for the winter season include two mountain sculptures, a revised offering of adult ski lessons, more events at the outdoor terrace bar of Bar Le Tucker, clothing options from the SUTTON Experience Boutique, the geocaching trail and entry to the restaurant at the Main Chalet Alt. 400m of the succulent homemade creative salads in Mason jars discovered this summer at Cube-IK.
And while the season will end with a bang with the start of construction on the new quad chairlift in the mountain's west end, many will notice a change in the landscape this season, as the operations team has already removed the necessary trees at the summit where the new quad chairlift will be located. This preparatory work was required to ensure its installation for the start of the 2026-2027 season.
This new chairlift, costing over $8 million and representing the largest investment in the mountain's history, is made possible by a $5 million grant from the PARIT (Tourism Industry Recovery Assistance Program) and is part of a development phase that will also include the addition of RFID beacons to the chairlifts and new four-season glamping sites near chairlift V. These are exciting additions to the mountain in the coming years. These future investments are estimated at $11 million.
