Despite Difficult Season: 10,400 Children Attend Snow Sports Camps With GoSnow.ch

After a forced break of almost two years, snow sports camps finally took place again this winter. More than 10,000 children spent carefree days in the snow with GoSnow.ch .  If the corona situation had not deteriorated so much in January, it would have been a record season. The storage offers for winter 2022/23 will be available from mid-April. Arriving by public transport is now even more convenient thanks to organized luggage transport.

The corona pandemic once again thwarted the plans of the Swiss snow sports initiative. The record-breaking number of bookings in December 2021 with 379 snow sports camps reflected the schools’ need to catch up. However, the hopes for a strong season were shattered shortly before Christmas with the increasing number of infections. A total of 80 camps were canceled in January, 22 still took place under strict security measures. In February there was already a slight slowdown in the wave of cancellations. However, the big catch-up race took place in March and will last until mid-April: A total of 173 snow sports camps were or will be held in March and April. 10 percent of these are camps that have been postponed from January or booked spontaneously in February. Conclusion: From December to mid-April 2022, 10,398 schoolchildren will have spent an eventful time in 237 GoSnow.ch snow sports camps. This corresponds to 60 percent of the camps booked at the beginning of December.

Tanja Frieden, President of the Swiss Snow Sports Initiative, is optimistic about the future: "The corona pandemic seems to have made those responsible for education and parents aware of how important snow sports camps are for children. We hope that the booking trend from last December will continue and that this will give even more students access to winter sports.» President of the Swiss snow sports initiative is optimistic about the future: "The corona pandemic seems to have made those responsible for education and parents aware of how important snow sports camps are for children. The results of the snow sports days organized via GoSnow.ch also paint a mixed picture. Although the federal government called for the rebooking of snow sports camps to snow sports days in January, the booking figures remained sobering. Although the snow sports initiative also offers all children an "all-inclusive" offer with rental equipment and snow sports lessons during the snow sports days, snow sports days were not an alternative to the popular camps in view of the pandemic situation.

New cancellation insurance and luggage transport included

From mid-April on GoSnow.ch the snow sports camps for the coming 2022/23 season can already be booked. As every year, there are many different Swiss destinations and camp accommodations to choose from. A cancellation cost insurance can now be integrated into all camps. This protects schools against costs in the event of short-term absences of participants (illness or accident). In addition, the public transport offer will be expanded to include luggage transport. The schools only have to collect the luggage in the schoolyard on Friday before the camp and will have it delivered to the warehouse on Monday. On the day of departure they leave the luggage at the accommodation and go back to the slopes and the following Monday the luggage is delivered back to the school. In this way, the class can travel comfortably and without luggage stress to the camp and back home.
