Crystal Ski Holidays’ First Flight From London Gatwick To Scandinavian Mountains Airport Takes off

One of Sweden’s most picturesque regions is now more accessible than ever, thanks to Crystal Ski Holidays’ brand-new winter route from London Gatwick to Scandinavian Mountains Airport. This brand new, state-of-the-art airport is one of the first in the world with a remote-controlled air traffic control tower. The terminal building has been designed to handle four flights simultaneously. It also contains a café, duty-free and retail shop. Outside the terminal you will find transfer buses, taxis and rental cars. Scandinavian Mountains Airport has been initiated and is owned by the local business community.

The weekly Sunday flight, operated by TUI Airways, will give skiers and snowboarders from London and the Southeast access to three stunning Swedish resorts – Sälen, Stöten and Kläppen. Each resort is renowned for its tree-lined runs, family-friendly slopes, and a range of winter activities such as snowmobiling and dog sledding.

With short transfer times of less than one hour and a true winter wonderland feel, these Scandinavian resorts are perfect for skiers looking for a variety of slopes and a whole host of winter activities .

The first flight departed London Gatwick airport on Sunday 21st of December 2025, jetting skiers off to the Swedish slopes just in time for the Christmas festivities and will operate weekly for the 2025/26 winter season, with departures until 5 April 2026.

Scott Britton, Head of Crystal Ski Holidays said: “Our new route to Scandinavian Mountains Airport is a fantastic addition to the Crystal programme, giving customers even more choice for their next ski holiday

“Sweden really does have something for everyone, from family-friendly slopes and scenic tree-lined runs to great restaurants and with such short transfer times, it’s never been easier to experience a true Scandinavian winter wonderland. We’re looking forward to welcoming customers to the Swedish mountains this winter season.

Gunnar Lenman, CEO and Airport Manager of Scandinavian Mountains Airport added: "We are really excited to welcome the UK’s biggest ski tour operator, Crystal Ski Holidays, to Scandinavian Mountains Airport. The new route from London Gatwick opens up fantastic opportunities for British skiers to experience our unique resorts in Sälen, Sweden and Trysil, Norway which offer world-class slopes, stunning scenery, and authentic experiences.

The first TUI Airways flight from the UK came at a great moment, coinciding with the first flights arriving from Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands over the weekend. We look forward to giving Crystal customers a warm Scandinavian welcome this winter.”
