Arosa Bergbahnen: Interim Report For The 2022/2023 Financial Year

Arosa Bergbahnen AG ihas reported a first interim result as of March 31, 2023 for the current financial year 2022/2023. As in the previous year, another extremely successful financial year is emerging, one that clearly exceeded expectations. The Arosa Bergbahnen were able to almost seamlessly follow up their sales in the main winter business with the record winter of the previous year. The snow-sure location of Arosa Lenzerheide, supported by efficient technical snowmaking in the snowless winter of 2022/2023, an above-average number of sunny days and the willingness to spend in the mountain restaurants are some of the factors that contribute to the excellent interim balance.

In the summer of 2022, 149,000 guests visited the mountain railways. The decline after the record numbers in the Corona summer years corresponds to the expected development. The construction of the snow sports area turned out to be much more demanding. Once again, technical snowmaking made a name for itself as an indispensable basis for safe winter operations, for all service providers in Arosa Lenzerheide such as hotels, para-hotels, gastronomy, ski schools, sports shops, etc.

Lorenzo Schmid, President of the Board of Directors, is consistently pleased: "In the high-margin business areas, Arosa Bergbahnen AG has almost succeeded in repeating the excellent sales figures from the previous year. In addition to the respectable winter traffic revenue with a renewed increase in annual and Season tickets, the impressive result in mountain gastronomy should be emphasized. The willingness of the guests to spend in combination with the beautiful terrace weather and pleasant temperatures continued undiminished. Likewise, the accommodation sales, mainly produced in the Mountain Lodge, were able to be stabilized at a high level."

Strategically, Arosa Bergbahnen AG is pursuing the goal of continuously developing its business qualitatively, including with impulses for a 10 ½-month operation on the mountain. "Winter business is and will remain the dominating factor for business success. In terms of traffic revenue, 95% of turnover comes from the winter, and in gastronomy/accommodation it's 83%. Arosa, as a refuge with guaranteed snow and the epitome of "true winter" and abroad. The trump card as a ski area in the village with suitable offers pays off", states the chairman of the board of directors with over 30 years of mountain railway experience.

Lorenzo Schmid assesses the expected business result as of April 30, 2023 as follows: "The 16 days of the season in April were significantly weaker than in the previous year. Nevertheless, according to its own forecast, the mountain railway company will achieve total sales of well over CHF 30 million. In combination with With a functioning cost management, an excellent business result can be expected at the EBITDA level." The price increases in energy costs (electricity, diesel) are bearable due to ongoing contracts and well-chosen purchase dates. The final results of the annual financial statements with the detailed annual report will be published together with the invitation to the general assembly at the beginning of September 2023.

Outlook for the 2023/2024 financial year

This Arosa Bergbahnen and Lenzerheide Bergbahnen want to strengthen their advantageous positioning together." In its updated multi-year planning, the company is assuming solid sales development.
