Salomon And The Big Alta Announce Title Sponsor Partnership

Salomon, the modern mountain sports lifestyle brand, announces its partnership with Daybreak Racing & Freetrail as title sponsor of The Big Alta trail running event in Marin County, California. The Big Alta made a splash with its launch in 2024 and is on track to further cement its place as a premier trail running event in North America in 2026 with this support from Salomon. The partnership embodies a shared vision: to push the limits of outdoor performance and celebrate the spirit of mountain sports culture.

As title sponsor, Salomon aims to foster an ecosystem where runners of all abilities can challenge themselves, build community, and champion the sport of trail running. The brand is committed to enabling its partners to expand and deepen their community impact through training runs with race partner San Francisco Running Company and live content, including Freetrail’s signature Trailgating shows. This commitment extends to elevating the level of competition at future editions of the race as well, bringing runners from the peak of the sport, including members of the Salomon International Trail Team.

The Big Alta is a collaborative trail running event produced by Daybreak Racing & Freetrail in trail-famous Marin County, California. With every step, these thoughtfully crafted courses provide an unforgettably scenic trail race experience. The Big Alta offers three race distance options over a 3-day race weekend: a tough, inspiring single loop 50K on Friday, a NEW world-class point-to-point 100K on Saturday, along with a shorter yet equally exhilarating single loop 28K on Sunday.

“As a long-time fan of both Freetrail and Daybreak Racing, we’re excited to take this step alongside our partners,” says Drew Hartman, Sports and Community Marketing Manager for Salomon North America. “It’s inspiring and encouraging for Salomon to partner with race directors who have such an ambitious perspective for this race, our partnership, and the sport of trail running as a whole. In lockstep with Freetrail and Daybreak Racing, we’re excited to animate our shared values of unleashing the best in people through mountain sports.”

Offering three race distances over three days, including a challenging single-loop 50K on Friday, a NEW world-class point-to-point 100K on Saturday, and an exhilarating single-loop 28K on Sunday, The Big Alta provides a true test of endurance for every runner, paired with sweeping vistas, supportive trail community energy, and the excitement of full-length race weekend. The 2025 edition of The Big Alta will take place from March 19 – 22nd, 2026 and runners can register directly on UltraSignup.

“We are really proud and honored to begin the next chapter of The Big Alta in partnership with Salomon,” says Dylan Bowman, Freetrail Lead and Co-Founder. “Working alongside our collaborators at Daybreak Racing, we feel we’re in the very early phases of building a world class event in Freetrail’s home of Marin County, CA. As a longtime admirer of the brand, and an appreciator of its pioneering impact on trail running, we’re thrilled to have Salomon’s support in bringing our vision to life.”
