From The Hague To Budapest: Rock A Rail Ski & Snowboard Tour Kicks Off 2026 In Hungary

Just before Christmas, the grand finale of the Rock A Rail Ski & Snowboard Tour presented by Snowfest successfully came to an end, and the focus is already shifting forward. The Rock A Rail Tour 2026 kicks off as early as January, marking an exciting new chapter with Budapest joining the tour for the very first time. A new city and a new country are added to the Rock A Rail map. Rock A Rail celebrates its Budapest premiere at the established Generali Freeze Festival, taking place from January 9-11, 2026, at the Városligeti Műjégpálya (City Park Ice Rink). For the snowboarders, this marks the special honor of bringing Rock A Rail to the very heart of the Hungarian capital for the first time.
Outlook 2026 - Early Season Kick-Off and Proven Stops: The Rock A Rail Ski & Snowboard Tour starts the new season exceptionally early with its opening stop in Budapest. After that, patience is required: the remaining tour stops will follow in autumn 2026, continuing with the well-established locations from the 2025 season. In early October, Rock A Rail will return to Hintertux (AUT), followed by Thun (SUI), Innsbruck (AUT) and Riga (LAT). The grand finale will once again take place in The Hague (NED) in December. Few event formats represent urban street-style riding at a world-class level like Rock A Rail. Creative and technically demanding setups challenge riders year after year. With the Budapest stop, the tour enters its fourth season, further solidifying its position as the leading international event format for street snowboarding and street skiing.
Rock A Rail Budapest - International Stars and Local Heroes: Having just been in action in The Hague, the Rock A Rail setup has already arrived in Budapest and is now being built right in the city center. Anticipation is especially high for local hero Botond Fricz, the winner of Rock A Rail The Hague 2025. Fricz made headlines throughout the 2025 tour with a second-place finish in Thun and his victory at the final tour stop. His uncompromising style has established him as a standout figure on rails. Leading the women’s field is Great Britain’s Mia Langridge, who was crowned Rock A Rail Tour Champion 2025 in The Hague. With four podium finishes across five tour stops, she demonstrated outstanding consistency throughout the season.
Freeze Festival - Where Winter Sports Meet Festival Vibes: The Generali Freeze Festival offers a diverse program at the City Park Ice Rink in Városliget. Alongside Rock A Rail, visitors can look forward to Hungary’s most popular music acts and what is regarded as the biggest ice-skating party of the year. The festival also highlights the beautiful world of winter sports: in addition to ice skating, visitors can also discover curling or figure skating. Notably, covering approximately 12,000 square meters, the ice rink is among the largest in the world and boasts a rich history dating back to 1870. Sunday is dedicated to the next generation, with an Open Kids Jam hosted by Snowboard Hungary putting young riders in the spotlight. In true Snowfest spirit, the Freeze Festival brings the vibrant diversity of winter sports straight into the city.
