UAE National Championships Held In Dubai

FIS Associate Member National Ski Association, United Arab Emirates hosted the second UAE National Ski and Snowboard Championships at Ski Dubai, where spectators witnessed some impressive skiing and snowboarding performances by more than 100 athletes. The championship saw a total of 70 medal winners across six disciplines during two days, 21 of whom were UAE nationals.

On day one in the Alpine slalom and giant slalom events, Maryam Al Falasi won the ladies title with Dana Talieva (RUS) and Robyn Leslie (GRB) recording the fastest times overall for the ladies on the day. In men’s races Alpine, Hassan Al Fardan from the UAE swept the slalom and giant slalom titles with Andres Herbon (ARG) and Suhail Azzam (JOR) winning overall with the fastest times on the day.

Day two of the championship was equally enthralling as the UAE Freestyle Ski and Snowboard Championships in slopestyle and big air took place. Winners included UAE national Abdoula Al Muhairi and Saeed Almatrooshi who thrilled the audience with their performances and clinched the UAE title in slopestyle ski and snowboard categories. The highest scores on the day were recorded by Jeremy Gerritsen (NED) who won the overall title. The great performances of the Emirati men were matched by Amenah Almuhairi, who was winner of the ladies Snowboard slopestyle and big air.

These results underscore the growing popularity of snow sports in the Arab world, particularly in the UAE, and Ski Dubai’s unwavering commitment to developing local skiing and snowboarding athletes.
