Tirol Economic Association Chairman & Cable Car Spokesman Franz Horl Says Indoor Apres Ski Must Be Strictly Regulated

Cableway spokesman for NR Franz Hörl has called for clear rules for the coming winter season
“We will be closely monitored in the coming winter and we are required to show that the Austrian tourist destinations deal responsibly with Covid-19. The time is therefore of the essence to finally create rules. Rules that are designed to keep the corona virus in check and still enable a sensible winter season. Too much is at stake. We cannot afford carelessness and hasty action, any more than we can continue where we had to stop in March, ”said the Tyrolean Economic Association chairman and cable car spokesman Franz Hörl.
While arming itself against a second wave of infections, the domestic tourism industry is also concerned with arming itself against a second wave of media. Hörl, who has also been a hotelier in Gerlos since 1978: “We owe it to our employees, our guests and ultimately our country not to make any avoidable mistakes as much as possible, and this year it is part of the responsible après-ski and party life to reduce. In the case of cable cars and chair lifts, we already saw this summer that the regulations work and are feasible in the same way as for public transport. The main thing is to hold back and avoid superspreading events as much as possible. "
The cable car spokesman was also confirmed by a guest survey, which clearly shows that Austria's winter guests are still committed to the holiday experience and winter sports - only the topic of "après-ski" is viewed as very critical by the majority of the guests. Hörl: “I can understand that it will be difficult for individual entrepreneurs to do without parties and full dance floors and to adhere to a clear curfew. Incidentally, I do not believe in bringing the curfew to 5 p.m. in general. However, I consider a prescribed break during the day to empty, clean and ventilate the premises to be sensible. "
“In the interests of the entire industry and the reputation of our country as a safe holiday destination, we have no other option than to be restrictive here. I want to enable our guests a safe and relaxed stay and save us another flood of negative headlines if possible. We are therefore called upon to put clear, strict and implementable regulations on track for party halls, bars and discos in a timely manner and not at the last minute, and to think about how companies that have to cope with significant sales losses can be compensated ”, concluded Hörl.
