Los Angeles-based street artist Nychos analyzes the essence of characters in his works, layer by layer. Cartoons, people, and the animal world form the basis of his inspiration.Born in 1982 and raised in a world where Austrian tradition and hunting culture meet 1980s pop culture, comics, and television, Nychos' visual impressions from that time continue to shape his work. At 17, he discovered spray paint—and with it, the possibility of adding color to his black-and-white cartoons. Since then, the can has been his favorite tool and large walls his preferred canvas. His anatomical cross-sections, X-ray visions, and figures can now be admired in many locations worldwide.

Nychos is the founder of Rabbit Eye Movement, co-founder of THE WEIRD, and a member of the LORDS Crew. His work has been exhibited worldwide, and his large-scale murals are a prominent feature of cityscapes around the globe. He currently lives and works in Vienna, Austria, and Los Angeles, California.

"My style is shaped by my love of anatomy and cartoons. For as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated by anatomy and how things work inside us. How deep can you go? That's the question that occupies me most. And I'm constantly searching for new ways to explore it in my art."

Using anatomy, Nychos examines living organisms in various contexts and media. His preferred tool is the spray can, his favorite surface: large. He thinks in contrasts and brings together opposites – looseness and precision, seriousness and irony, inner and outer worlds, darkness and light. Above all, life and death.
