The Strafe Cham Kit - A Backcountry Classic Evolves

Strafe Outerwear, known for their progressive approach to technical mountain apparel, introduces the updated Cham Kit — an evolution of one of their most celebrated touring systems in the backcountry world. A longtime favorite among athletes and alpinists, the Cham Jacket and Pant have been redesigned for FW 2025–2026 with a fully recycled fabric, enhanced durability, and improved mobility for long days in the backcountry.

The new Cham Kit continues Strafe’s commitment to sustainability, performance, and innovative design. Featuring 3L Pertex® Shield REVOLVE, a PFAS-free fabric where all three layers (face fabric, membrane, backer) are made from 100% recycled polyester. This new mono-material construction is designed to be easily returned to raw materials at its end of life, reducing its environmental impact while offering exceptional waterproof breathability and long-term reliability.

Reducing harmful chemicals is built directly into the Cham Jacket and Pant through the use of bluesign®-certified Pertex® Shield REVOLVE fabric—delivering uncompromising protection while lowering environmental impact. Designed for demanding backcountry travel, the updated Cham remains focused on what matters most: lightweight, streamlined performance in harsh conditions.

“Our goal was to elevate two of our most trusted touring pieces with a next-generation fabric and create the most efficient touring kit possible for athletes,” says Pia Halloran, vice president of product and design. “Pertex® Shield REVOLVE increases waterproofness and durability while supporting responsible material sourcing. After more than two years of development, the new Cham is built to move efficiently and deliver protection when conditions turn.”

Purpose-driven updates reinforce the Cham’s minimalist ethos, delivering only what is essential for high-output days in the mountains. Integrated RECCO® reflectors add an additional layer of security, while the streamlined design supports efficient movement and reliable protection in demanding conditions. The result is a refined touring system built for high-output, performance, and simplicity.

The new Cham Jacket and Pant will be available at strafeouterwear.com and select retailers.
