Skiresort.de: The New Industry Awards For The Best Ski Areas

"And the test winner award goes to...". Also in 2022, the world's largest test portal for ski areas, Skiresort.de, chose its top ski areas. The annual test winner awards are regarded as industry awards by ski and boarder fans as well as by the ski resorts themselves. No wonder, after all, the awards were given for the twenty-fourth time.
Every year the ski resort experts from Skiresort.de bring their worldwide test results directly from the slopes. They check and evaluate according to 18 criteria: from the size of the ski area to snow reliability and family friendliness to the range of huts and environmental friendliness. Over the past few years, more than 470 ski areas in 30 countries have been put through their paces. The ski resort team around the two doers, Oliver Kern and Peter Krafft, selected the test winners for 2022 from the current field reports.
This year, too, KitzSki – Kitzbühel/Kirchberg can look forward to the highest award for the world's best ski area. With an overall test result of 4.9 out of a possible 5 stars, the Austrian ski destination is right at the top. Ischgl/Samnaun, the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, Ski Arlberg, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbunn, Sölden, Hochzillertal/Hochfügen, the Zillertal Arena, the Schladminger 4-mountain ski area, the Silvretta Montafon, Mayrhofen, Obertauern, Gurgl, Hochkönig and the Snow Space Salzburg, all Austrian ski areas. In Switzerland, the Skiresort.de team gave awards to the ski areas of Arosa Lenzerheide, St. Moritz – Corviglia, Laax and Zermatt. In Italy Val Gardena, Madonna di Campiglio and the Plan de Corones awarded. In addition, Skiresort.de awarded Les 3 Vallées and Tignes/Val d'Isère in France, Whistler Blackcomb in Canada and Vail, Telluride and Beaver Creek in the USA as a 5-star ski area.
As in the previous season, some top-class ski areas with up to 80 km and up to 60 km of slopes as well as insider tips with up to 40 km, 30 km and 20 km of slopes were chosen. "Slope fans who attach particular importance to certain individual criteria of a ski area will also find what they are looking for in our test winners," explains Oliver Kern.
The team of testers from Skiresort.de recognized some very special highlights of the ski areas as special delicacies on the slopes. The best ski hall can be found in the Alpenpark Neuss in North Rhine-Westphalia, the best black run (Lauberhorn World Cup run) is in Wengen in the Jungfrau region and the best gourmet restaurant can be found in the Mountain Loft on the Spieljoch in the Zillertal. The best new lift – from Doppelmayr, of course – is at the Reschenpass in the Nauders ski area. The Aletsch Arena promises the most breathtaking panorama with a view of the Aletsch Glacier. And the best ski valley is the Zillertal. Diligent investments were also made in the Balkans. In Montenegro, the connection between the two ski areas Kolašin 1450 and Kolašin 1600 was awarded the Best Combination.
