Schmitten Employee Celina Schuster Passes Operations Manager Examination With Distinction

Celina Schuster achieves top honors: The 24-year-old from Saalfelden has passed the cable car operations manager examination with top marks – making her the 19th woman in Austria, and only the fourth in the state of Salzburg, to achieve this demanding qualification.

Schmittenhöhebahn AG has another reason to celebrate: Celina Schuster has passed her cable car operations manager exam with distinction. This marks another milestone in the young technician's remarkable success story – from completing a dual apprenticeship with honors to being named "Salzburg's Apprentice of the Year 2022" and now to this latest achievement.

From apprentice to operations manager – a success story that sets a positive example! Celina Schuster began her career on August 6, 2018, with a dual apprenticeship as a cable car technician and electrical engineer, combined with her high school diploma, at Schmittenhöhebahn AG. This made history in Austria – as the first woman to complete this demanding combination of training. Her dedication, technical understanding, and determination made her stand out even during her apprenticeship: On April 12, 2022, she completed her apprenticeship with distinction and was named "Salzburg's Apprentice of the Year" later that same year.

In addition to her professional expertise, Celina impresses with her volunteer work: For several years she has been active with the Red Cross and leads internal first aid training courses for her colleagues. In 2024, she completed the instructor course to support apprentice training at the Schmitten site together with operations manager Peter Onz.

“Celina is a prime example of what is possible with passion and determination,” emphasizes Dr. Erich Egger, CEO of Schmittenhöhebahn AG. “Over the past seven years, she has achieved everything one can in this industry, from apprenticeship to operations manager qualification – and with consistently outstanding results.”

With her certification as an operations manager, Celina now belongs to a very small circle of highly qualified women in the Austrian cable car industry: she is the 19th woman nationwide, and the fourth in the state of Salzburg, to hold this qualification. "Celina impressively demonstrates that technical professions offer fantastic opportunities – also for women," says operations manager and apprenticeship supervisor Peter Onz.

Schmittenhöhebahn AG has been considered a model company in apprenticeship training for many years. Since 2008, the company has been successfully training cable car technicians, focusing on practical training and targeted professional development opportunities. Personalities like Celina Schuster demonstrate the success of this approach.
