Rab Partners With RECCO To Enhance Mountain Safety

British outdoor brand Rab (owned by Equip Outdoor Technologies Ltd.) have announced a new partnership with RECCO, integrating the globally recognised search-and-rescue technology into select products from their Autumn/Winter 2025 collection. The collaboration brings professional-grade safety technology to Rab’s technical GORE-TEX Pro Shell collection and new Ascendor mountain packs, providing an additional layer of protection for mountain athletes and outdoor enthusiasts.
RECCO technology makes users searchable by organised rescue teams in the event of an avalanche or if lost in the outdoors. The system works through lightweight, passive reflectors integrated into gear that bounce back directional radar signals from RECCO detectors used by rescue teams worldwide. This creates a reliable backup safety system that requires no power source or activation from the user.
“We’re delighted about our new partnership with RECCO,” said Tim Fish, Product Director at Rab. “The RECCO search network has evolved into the global standard search system, enabling fast and effective response in avalanche situations and other mountain incidents. By integrating RECCO reflectors into our new technical GORE-TEX Shells and professional mountain packs, we’re providing an essential additional safety tool for our mountain community.”
RECCO technology is currently deployed across 900+ locations in 32 countries through search-and-rescue organisations and ski resorts, making it the most widely adopted professional rescue technology globally.
“Rab is a brand deeply dedicated to the mountain experience, and we’re proud to expand our roster of brand partners,” said Fredrik Steinwall, CEO of RECCO. “Rab products help people access a wide range of mountain sports and outdoor adventures, and we’re excited to help seamlessly add another level of protection for their customers.”
The RECCO system has evolved significantly since its introduction, with helicopter-based detectors launched in 2016 expanding capabilities from winter-only searches to year-round mountain rescue operations. The helicopter detector can search a square kilometer in just six minutes, dramatically reducing search times for missing hikers, mountain bikers, and mountaineers while minimising risk exposure for rescue workers.
While RECCO technology doesn’t replace personal avalanche transceivers or proper mountain safety training, it provides an invaluable additional layer of searchability that could prove critical in emergency situations.
The Rab Autumn/Winter 2025 collection featuring RECCO technology is now available.
