New Thrills this Winter!

The new Inferno Mountain Coaster will open this winter for the first time.  The Inferno is 4,000 feet long with a 300 vertical drop. The ride includes nine switchbacks and one 360 degree loop.  Individual carts can go as fast as 25 miles per hour and the track rises up to as high as 40 feet in the air in some areas.  The new coaster will be open on weekends, plus holidays throughout the winter season, including Thanksgiving week, Nov. 17 through Nov. 25 from 10am to 4pm.  Rides are $20 per person.

The mountain coaster’s name is inspired from Purgatory’s historic theme which was originally derived from Dante’s Divine Comedy.  Many ski trail names at the resort also follow this theme, including Styx, Pandemonium, Hades, Pitchfork, El Diablo, Limbo and more.

New Trails!  Purgatory is opening two new gladed tree skiing trails on the front side of the mountain.  Mark's Park is an intermediate trail with natural terrain park features, and the other trail is a beginner gladed tree skiing trail near Lift 2. With these two additions, Purgatory’s trails now total 101.

New Places to Shop!  Purgatory is opening two new retail shops in the Village Plaza. “Branded” will feature logoed apparel and gift items, and there will be a new snowboard gear and apparel shop.

Something New for the Taste Buds! Purgatory is adding the Waffle Cabin to the Columbine area.  The Waffle Cabin specializes in hot and fresh "original" made-to-order Belgian sugar waffles and warm chocolate-drizzled Belgium waffles, plus hot cocoa, soft drinks and more.

Purgatory Resort is part of the Southwest’s largest ski area collective, owned and managed by Mountain Capital Partners, along with other ski resorts, including Arizona Snowbowl, Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort, Pajarito Mountain, Hesperus Ski Area, and Nordic Valley Ski Resort, plus Colorado’s largest snowcat skiing operation, Purgatory Snowcat Adventures.  Mountain Capital Partners has invested a grand total of $40 million in capital improvements over four consecutive seasons.
