Positive First Half Of The Year For Andermatt

Andermatt Swiss Alps Group can look back on a positive first half of 2020. The two hotels The Chedi Andermatt and Radisson Blu Reussen as well as the SkiArena Andermatt-Sedrun were able to increase the number of guests thanks to the high domestic demand. The sale of real estate has leveled off at a high level and is reflected in the major construction activity.
Despite the closure of the mountain railways and hotels after March 13, the first half of the year for the Andermatt Swiss Alps Group was positive. From mid-May, operations could gradually be resumed. The destination benefits from the fact that the Swiss spend their holidays in their own country. Numerous measures were implemented on the cost side. Andermatt proved to be the top performing travel destination within the Orascom Group.
In the Hotels business area, The Chedi Andermatt recorded significantly more overnight stays than in the same period of the previous year and the historically highest occupancy rate. The Hotel Radisson Blu Reussen, which caters to groups and events, was able to make up for this lack of business to a large extent with individual guests.
In the Town Experience business area, the Andermatt Golf Course was able to increase the number of green fees sold by 50 percent by the end of July compared to the previous year. Events and offers are constantly creating new experiences for guests in Andermatt Reuss.
The Business Area Mountain Experience with the SkiArena Andermatt-Sedrun can achieve a positive operating result despite a loss of sales as a result of the closure on March 14th. The number of summer guests had increased by 35 percent by the end of July compared to the previous year.
In order to be able to satisfy the sustained high demand for holiday properties, four buildings are under construction in the Real Estate business area: Enzian and Arve as well as the two most recent projects Frame and Alma. Two more buildings are also under construction - the Turmfalke Suites.
The Frame house is consistently geared towards a younger urban audience with 2½-room apartments and duplex studios. Just three weeks after the market launch, over 60 percent of the apartments have been sold. The architecture office OOS, Zurich, is responsible for the architecture.
In Haus Alma there is the opportunity to purchase an apartment in an exclusive location directly on the Reuss River. All apartments have extraordinary panoramic windows with a view of the Reuss and the surrounding, mystical mountains. Alma offers ten spacious apartments, each covering half a floor, as well as a high-class penthouse apartment. The building was designed by Herzog Architects, Zurich, and Nicole Deiss. Both houses will be offered by S + B Baumanagement AG, Steinhausen-Zug.
