Loon Opens Only Superpipe In Eastern US

Loon Mountain Resort opened an 18-foot superpipe on Tuesday, marking its earliest superpipe debut in more than 15 years—and the only one open east of Colorado.
“It’s such a great feeling to have the Superpipe open—it’s a lot of work.” said Bryan Harper, Terrain Parks Manager at Loon Mountain Resort. “Our dedicated team is proud to be opening the first superpipe in the East and the only one in New Hampshire.”
Located in Loon Mountain Park and visible from the Octagon Lodge base area, the Superpipe features 18-foot walls and extends approximately 450 feet. Its ahead-of-schedule construction was made possible by significant ongoing investments in snowmaking infrastructure, enabling the Operations team to produce the large volumes of snow required to build the massive feature. Construction was a true team effort, with support from multiple departments—including President and General Manager Brian Norton, who even stepped in to help operate groomers to create the Superpipe.
This winter the Superpipe will be the centerpiece for many guests and athletes visiting the resort. In March, Loon will host a stop on the United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association (USASA) Futures Tour, a national competition series that brings some of the country’s top up-and-coming skiers and snowboarders to the Superpipe. Following the opening of four terrain parks this season, the debut of the Superpipe adds a new level of progression for skiers and riders. With the Superpipe now open, Loon reinforces its standing as a destination for some of the east coast’s most innovative and acclaimed terrain parks.
