New Leadership For The Ski World Cup St. Moritz

After more than 40 years in the service of ski racing in St. Moritz and the Engadine, the long-time Organising Committee (OC) President Martin Berthod is retiring and handing over the reins to younger hands. He will be succeeded by the current race director Robin Miozzari, who can count on the active support of the experienced World Cup OC.

Two Alpine Ski World Championships (2003 / 2017), 78 World Cup races, 71 European Cup races, 379 FIS races including 9 Swiss Championships with 77 races and 10 Para-Ski World Cups with 68 races. In addition, there are countless student, junior and company races, which Martin Berthod has organized in the front line as OC president and driving force of St. Moritz skiing. These are impressive figures, which prove the functionary career of the former ski racer.

As an FIS official, he was also active around the globe at countless major events such as World Championships and Olympic Games. For over 40 years, the native of the Bernese Oberland worked with tireless drive, great commitment and a lot of heart and soul for the organization of international, first-class ski races as well as for the development of ski racing in St. Moritz and the Engadine.

After the Ski World Championships St. Moritz 2017, Martin Berthod took over the newly formed World Cup OC with the aim of building a successor. Now the time has come, Martin Berthod hands over the operational management of the Ski World Cup St. Moritz, as well as the management of the European Cup and FIS races to the current race director Robin Miozzari.

"I am very pleased that Robin has agreed to take over the office of OC President. As a ski-affine, solution-oriented and strong leader, he enjoys a lot of acceptance and recognition from the FIS race directors, the existing World Cup team as well as our many volunteers."

Martin Berthod is pleased about the successor solution. As a volunteer, he will continue to provide support in the future and share his extensive knowledge and experience.

Robin Miozzari has been heavily involved in the race organization since 2015 and has been race director of the St. Moritz Ski World Cup races since 2019. He will be supported by the experienced St. Moritz World Cup OC as well as the newly formed core OC for all events of the sponsoring association Alpine Sports Events (ASESE).

St. Moritz - Engadin (ASESE), consisting of Claudia Jann, Guido Mittner, Thomas Rechberger and Daniel Schaltegger, all four of whom have many years of experience, including from the 2017 Ski World Championships and a large number of Ski World Cups. All five people are also involved in the organization of the Freestyle World Championships 2025, which means that the event expertise under the umbrella of ASESE is coming together strongly. Together with local partners, this structure will continue to ensure the professional organization of snow sports events on the mountain in the future and beyond the next major event.

"Martin Berthod has shaped skiing in the Engadine like no other. I would like to thank him from the bottom of my heart for his tireless commitment. Even if the resignation is painful for all of us, I am at the same time glad that such a good solution for the succession could be found. I wish Robin and the entire team every success, (Präsident Sigi Aspiron ASESE).’’

The Ski World Cup St. Moritz will take place this year from December 16 - 18, 2022, with two downhill races and a Super-G.
