New Chairlift For Anzere

The 4-seater chairlift Les Luys-Pas de Maimbré has been in operation in Anzère since December 2020. The ski area is much better developed thanks to the new facility.
After 42 years of service, the Les Luys surface lift was retired in spring 2020. On behalf of Télé Anzère SA, Garaventa AG built a modern replacement system as general contractor. Since operations began on December 19, 2020, winter sports enthusiasts can look forward to a ride on the comfortable 4-seater chairlift.
Better development
The new system at les Luys replaces two ski lifts. For the new 4-seater chairlift, Garaventa, together with the customer, chose a new route. The new valley station is around 200m below the old station. In addition, the mountain station is built further up, on the Pas de Maimbré. To make space for the new station, the «La Combe» ski lift has been shortened by around 50m. With this shift, more slopes will be opened up - around a quarter of the slopes in the entire ski area can be reached thanks to the new building. Therefore, the Tsalan ski lift, a little further away, was also dismantled. By moving the valley station, the training area for alpine skiers is also perfectly connected and has now been homologated by the FIS as an official racing and training course.
Special avalanche protection
The chairlift overcomes an over 87 percent steep slope in which avalanche networks are built. These prevent avalanches from breaking out. Since the new line runs exactly over the existing avalanche barriers, the nets were dismantled and repositioned for the construction of the tubular supports. Additional construction measures ensure optimal protection of the slopes below. A corresponding avalanche report for these construction measures has been prepared with the WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF.
Technical features
The new detachable 4-seater chairlift Les Puys-Pas de Maimbré leads from 1856 m to the Pas de Maimbré at 2379 meters above sea level. It has a sloping length of 1567 meters, transports 1,600 people per hour and overcomes a height difference of 523 meters with a journey time of around 6 minutes. The 75 vehicles are parked directly in the station circuit in the valley station. This station garage is particularly space-saving and also offers excellent protection for the vehicles.
