Lake Tahoe’s Landing Resort & Spa Receives 2017 Travel Weekly Magellan Award & Luxury Travel Guide Award

The above-and-beyond personalized service at The Landing Resort & Spa, Lake Tahoe’s only five-star boutique lakeside resort, has once again been recognized by the influential travel resource Travel Weekly, which recently favored the premier year-round destination with a 2017 Magellan Award in the “Overall Luxury Hotel/Resort” category. In other recent honors, the South Lake Tahoe oasis received a Luxury Travel Guide Award as California Luxury Resort & Spa of the Year for the second year in a row.

In choosing The Landing for its honor, Travel Weekly indicated that among entries for this year’s competition, “the quality of work was outstanding,” adding that, “being selected a Magellan Award winner is a tremendous achievement and proves you represent a high standard of excellence within the travel industry.”

This isn’t the first time that Travel Weekly has singled out The Landing – an amenities-packed resort also notable for its unparalleled lake and Sierra Nevada mountain views, elegantly chic setting and sumptuous décor – for providing remarkable hospitality. Previously, Travel Weekly has bestowed seven Magellan Awards on The Landing for its hospitality, status as a dream destination and the stylish on-site restaurant Jimmy’s.

“We are grateful for these significant recognitions of our efforts to provide a luxurious experience to our guests,” says The Landing General Manager Henri Birmele of the two recent honors. “We will continue to focus on our goal of exceeding guest expectations every single day.”

Since opening in 2013, the Landing has repeatedly been honored by multiple outlets. The boutique hotel boasts an abundance of amenities and 77 individually decorated rooms – complete with stone-lined gas fireplaces and private balconies, most with lake and mountain views. A rooftop deck large enough for events and weddings and Jimmy’s restaurant deck with fire pits and comfy couches offer panoramic vistas, and private access to adjacent Lakeside Beach enhances the resort’s close connection with Lake Tahoe’s turquoise waters. A full-service spa contributes to the resort’s appeal, helping to soothe sore muscles from the array of outdoor adventure on tap.

This year-round gem of a destination offers endless nearby opportunities for guests to enjoy the outdoors – with summer activities such as golf, hiking and biking, boating, kayaking, fishing, wakeboarding, waterskiing and paddle boarding. The Landing’s proximity to Heavenly Village and the gondola to Heavenly Mountain Resort means easily accessible winter fun, too, including skiing and snowboarding (alpine and cross-country), snowmobiling, dogsledding and sleigh rides, along with many of the lake-based activities offered in the summer.

In addition to the recognition from Travel Weekly and The Luxury Travel Guide, The Landing Resort has received multiple kudos in 2017 from Oyster – which ranked it among the Best Luxury Hotels in the United States, Best Lakeside Hotels in the U.S. and Best Hotels in California – and in this year’s Best of Tahoe issue, Tahoe Quarterly named Jimmy’s at The Landing one of South Lake Tahoe’s Best Hotel Restaurants with the magazine’s readers voting it the Best Fine Dining on the South Shore. In 2016, the ultra-luxe getaway was ranked #1 in Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards for Top Northern California Hotels.
