Kitzbühel Lift Co Celebrates Opening & Blessing Of Its New Team House "Kitzski Living”,

The Kitzbühel Mountain Railway Company celebrated the opening and blessing of its new team house, "KitzSki Living," at the Hahnenkamm cable car station. The house was officially put into operation with a symbolic key handover to employee representatives.

The Kitzbühel Mountain Railway Company is responding to the changing needs of the local workforce and the general challenges of the labor market with the new "KitzSki Living" building. "Of the approximately 250 additional seasonal workers we employ in winter, we have a group of 70-80 people who only come to us for one season. If we can't offer them accommodation, they won't come, and the cable car operation will be impossible or severely limited. Furthermore, it has become increasingly difficult to rent staff accommodation in recent years. So we were almost forced to take this step and build a staff residence, just as other cable car companies did years ago," said CEO Anton Bodner.

With the construction of the modern team house, the Kitzbühel Mountain Railway Company is making a targeted investment in its employees and strengthening its position as an attractive employer. This also contributes to sustainable corporate development in this important area. The company is pleased with the possibility of using the building for tourism purposes outside the winter season. "The combination of staff accommodation during the winter season and tourist use during the rest of the year makes perfect sense and brings added value to the mountain railway company and attracts more visitors to Kitzbühel. And it does so in a segment of the market that is urgently needed," said ARV Mayor Dr. Klaus Winkler.

The building complex comprises a total of 60 residential units – 48 smaller apartments, 2 barrier-free apartments, and 10 larger apartments – centrally located near the workplace, city center, and public transportation. This central location offers employees added value and significantly simplifies their daily lives.

"KitzSki Living" is characterized by sustainable construction and state-of-the-art technologies. A photovoltaic system on the roof generates environmentally friendly energy, while an innovative heating system with geothermal storage and deep boreholes, along with a heat pump, ensures a reduction in CO2 emissions. The use of high-quality building materials further underscores the quality and sustainability of the team building. In addition to the apartments, the building also offers 65 underground parking spaces and a small office area – without sealing off any additional land. Instead, the existing area was optimally utilized.

The "KitzSki Living" team residence was built in two phases: the underground parking garage was expanded in the summer of 2024, and the staff residence was completed in 2025. With a total investment of approximately €14.5 million, the project (7,200 m² of floor space and 23,500 m³ of building volume) was completed on schedule and within the ambitious budget within 14 months. A high-quality residential building was successfully constructed at extremely attractive prices. The winning design from an architectural competition was submitted by the "P3 Architects Group," who then carried out the further planning work to the complete satisfaction of the Kitzbühel Mountain Railway Company. All necessary tender documents and contract award proposals, as well as on-site construction supervision, were prepared by master builder Martin Juffinger. The construction work was carried out by the Bodner company, which represented all other regional contractors at the handover ceremony.

With the construction of "KitzSki Living," the Kitzbühel Mountain Railway Company is sending a strong signal of its appreciation for its employees and its commitment to the company's sustainable development. The modern infrastructure and sustainable construction methods reflect the high standards that the Kitzbühel Mountain Railway Company sets for itself and for the future.
