Killington Resort Continues To Invest In Affordable Employee Housing, Announces Cooler In The Mountains Summer Music Lineup

Vermont’s Killington Resort, the largest mountain resort in Eastern North America and a POWDR company, announced it has purchased the Hillside Inn as a second employee housing location after renting it for the 2021-22 winter season.

In 2018, Killington Resort purchased the Mendon Mountain View Lodge to begin offering housing to employees. This lodge consists of 39 rooms, a full kitchen, a lounge, and community space. Due to the increased need for housing, the resort rented the Hillside Inn this past winter and finalized its purchase on April 15, 2022. This lodge consists of 90 rooms, laundry, and two lounges. A communal kitchen will be added as part of renovations this summer. Both locations are on the bus route for transportation to the resort and to Rutland. Together, both properties will house over 275 employees.  The addition of the Hillside Inn property gives Killington one of the largest employee housing options offered by an employer in the state of Vermont.

“After purchasing the Mendon Mountain View Lodge in 2018 alongside the continued trend of a tight housing market, we knew we needed to provide more,” says Mike Solimano, president and general manager of Killington Resort and Pico Mountain. “The purchase of the Hillside Inn is a critical step in meeting the needs of staffing in the future. We are committed to continuing to look for innovative ways to support our employees in finding housing throughout the community.”

Killington Resort, announced the expanded 2022 Cooler in the Mountains Concert Series with two additional weeks presented by Bud Light Seltzer and Community Radio EXP featuring Elise Testone & The Blackouts, Zach Nugent, and more.

The now 10-week series begins July 2nd with Apollo Suns and continues with top names from the regional and national music scene through the summer, culminating on September 3rd with Joe Samba. This family-friendly weekly concert takes place every Saturday from 3:00-5:30 p.m. at the Snowshed Base Area. Families are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the festive atmosphere and all the summer activities Killington Resort offers.

“The Cooler in the Mountain Concert Series has a laid back, fun atmosphere, giving families a great way to spend their Saturday evenings together,” says Mike Sutcliffe, Events Manager at Killington Resort. “The lawn at Snowshed acts as a natural amphitheater, creating a great music experience. I encourage guests to bring blankets or foldable chairs and experience everything The Beast has to offer while they’re here to make the most of these awesome free summer concerts.”
