Gitschberg Jochtal Chooses Demaclenko

The coming winter season has novelties galore in store for visitors at the Gitschberg-Jochtal ski resort at the entrance to the Pustertal Valley in the South Tirol. Not only is a new gondola being built; the entire snowmaking system is being completely revamped and extended. The custom-made concept for this major commission is being designed and implemented by DEMACLENKO, as always at the cutting edge of technology.
From the 2,512-metre-high Gitschberg mountain at the entry to the Pustertal Valley, you can take in a 360-degree sweeping panorama view extending from the Dolomites over the Zillertal, Stubaier and the Ötztal Alps. That in itself, together with the varied offer, suffices to make the ski and holiday area Gitschberg-Jochtal a popular place for vacations and leisure in winter and in summer. To guarantee the attractiveness of this holiday destination for the future, major investments have been made in developing the whole area in 2018. The snowmaking specialist DEMACLENKO’s know-how and quality was tapped into to offer absolutely guaranteed high-quality snow from the first to the last day of the season. Karl Leitner, president of the Gitschberg-Jochtal Lift Company, presents the reasons for this visionary investment: “DEMACLENKO presented us with an absolutely convincing and technically fully developed offer. It fits in perfectly with the major overall concept that we are going to implement on a step by step basis on the Gitschberg. We have thought and planned ahead so that we can continue to develop and extend our programme seamlessly, offering our visitors a perfect vacation experience year after year.”
From the valley station to the Breiteben mountain station, the snowmaking system is to be completely renovated and extended. 87 new snow guns will be set up at strategic points to ensure that the entire surface of all the slopes is covered in snow. This shall include the new piste, “Wastl Huber”, which is roughly two kilometres long and is connected with the end of the Sergerwiese piste, which is being extended another 300 meters lower down. Sixty-three new EOS snow lances are to be used, which are particularly well adapted for downhill runs through the woodlands and the quality of the terrain. In addition, 24 Ventus 4.0 und Evo 3.0 fan guns shall reinforce the powerful snowmaking network. Half of them are stationary, while the remainder are deployed along the slopes for mobile use.
The project also includes the installation of 95 steel-reinforced concrete pits and laying roughly 10 kilometres of infrastructure. Two new pumping stations, one next to the new reservoir and the other next to the Breiteben mountain station, are being constructed from scratch with a total capacity of roughly 350 l/s. The finishing touch for a fully automated snowmaking solution is DEMACLENKOs Snowvisual 4.0, including resource management to reduce costs. The user-friendly visualisation software guarantees frictionless control and operation of the entire snowmaking system and offers valuable analyses of the snowmaking.
Another ropeway that is being constructed on the site is the new ten seater gondola, “Ski Express”, built by DEMACLENKO‘s affiliate LEITNER Ropeways, intended to replace the ski lifts Breiteben and Sergerwiese. The whole construction will have been finished on time and opened by the beginning of the 2018-2019 winter season to guarantee that nothing gets in the way of an unforgettable ski vacation, above all with guaranteed snow, in the holiday area Gitschberg Jochtal.
