Forest Service Approves Snowmass Big Burn Chairlift Replacement

The Forest Service has issued a final decision for replacement of the Big Burn Chairlift at Snowmass ski area. The decision authorizes Aspen Skiing Company to replace the existing chairlift with a new 6-passenger, high-speed detachable lift. The current lift is ready for replacement with new levels of technology and comfort that will provide more consistent access to popular intermediate terrain.
“The Big Burn area is some of the best skiing and riding at Snowmass. Guests will continue to enjoy the terrain while utilizing new lift technologies that will make for a great ride to the top,” said Kevin Warner, District Ranger for the Aspen–Sopris Ranger District.
Installation will likely occur in summer 2020. For additional information please visit the following link:  https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=56986.
