Doppelmayr Group Publishes Annual Report 2024/25

Ropeways and intralogistics solutions from the Doppelmayr Group are in demand. In the 2024/25 business year, the company headquartered in Wolfurt (AUT) posted a 13.19% growth in sales. This takes the revenues of Doppelmayr Holding SE to almost 1.2 billion euros.

Worldwide, ropeways are a popular means of transport in ski resorts, at tourist destinations, and as part of local transit networks. The core markets in the winter sector remain the Alpine region and North America. In Asia, ropeways continue to gain ground in year-round tourism, and Latin America saw the opening of a new urban ropeway. Numerous major projects contributed to the increase in sales revenues for Doppelmayr Holding SE to a total of 1,197 million euros, representing year-on- year growth of 13.19 percent for the 2024/25 business year.

The workforce was a key success factor in the Doppelmayr Group’s positive business development. It is their daily commitment that makes it possible to jointly implement projects with the highest quality and technical precision in collaboration with visionary customers. To ensure the high quality standard for the long term and further expand it, the teams were again strengthened in the 2024/25 business year. The Doppelmayr Group’s headcount increased by 7.5 percent year on year, taking it to a total of 3,781 FTEs.

As global market and innovation leader in the ropeway sector, the Doppelmayr Group places the emphasis on continuous technological development and the implementation of new solutions that meet customer requirements. The Doppelmayr Group already set a milestone in the industry with AURO, the autonomous operation of gondola lifts. The next logical step was the autonomous operation of chairlifts: AURO CLD. This system enables the lift to be run with an unmanned top station through the use of additional sensors, CCTV monitoring, and AI-assisted image processing. AURO CLD analyzes and evaluates this image and video data in real time and, if necessary, automatically intervenes in the control of the ropeway. The further development of AURO CLD is AURO Assist – a supporting system for chairlift bottom stations, which uses AI to analyze passenger boarding behavior. This ensures that only chairs with properly seated passengers reach the line. Following an intensive test phase, AURO Assist was presented at the INTERALPIN trade show in Innsbruck; it will be going into service on the first chairlifts for the 2025/26 winter season.

Another AI application for ropeways is adaptive speed control. In this case, camera systems detect passenger volumes and lift speed is adjusted accordingly. This ensures that the installation is operated in line with demand and effectively saves energy in the interests of sustainability.

One of the highlights of the last business year was the opening of the first installations as part of the Schilthornbahn project in Switzerland. The aerial tramway from Stechelberg to Mürren is the steepest of its kind worldwide with a maximum grade of 159.4 percent. Funifor installations are used for the routes from Mürren to Birg and on to the Schilthorn. In the meantime, one track is operational on each route and both will have a second Funifor track once the project is completed in 2026.

The ability to carry an impressive 4,570 passengers an hour makes the EibergBahn in Scheffeau (AUT) the highest-capacity detachable 8-seater chairlift in the world.

In recent years, Big Sky Resort in Montana has made multiple investments in lift infrastructure from the Doppelmayr Group and in D-Line technology. Two new installations belonging to this ropeway generation were completed in the 2024/25 business year. The One&Only Gondola serves the exclusive One&Only Moonlight Basin, bringing guests directly into the ski area and to the 8-seater chairlift Madison 8, which is also new.

Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah, is undergoing an extensive expansion project which includes new ski slopes and a wide range of winter sports facilities as well as a total of eleven modern ropeway installations. The Doppelmayr Group has already built five new chairlifts – three of which went into operation for the 2024/25 winter season. The Keetley Express is the resort’s first detachable 6-seater chairlift.

Urban ropeways already provide an addition to local transit networks in many cities in Latin America. Mexico City saw the opening of the Cablebús Línea 3 in the 2024/25 business year. Teams from the Doppelmayr Group are also working on other projects in Mexico as well as in Colombia, Peru and Chile.

In the automated people mover (APM) sector, the Doppelmayr Group is currently in the process of developing and implementing a contract for Newark Airport. In addition, it was awarded the contract to replace the APM system for the Getty Museum in Los Angeles (USA) in the year under review. This also includes a long-term agreement covering operation and maintenance.

The ropeway is a popular choice in Asia when it comes to providing efficient access to remote locations and promoting the sustainable development of tourism experiences. Visitors on the new gondola lift Vinpearl Nha Trang in Vietnam glide across an ocean bay in 12-passenger cabins. In Georgia, an iconic gondola lift carries passengers to Mount Mtatsminda, Tbilisi’s local mountain – with unique vistas of the capital.

In addition to passenger transport, the Doppelmayr Group also offers solutions for the efficient transport of materials. This division was able to maintain a stable position in a challenging market environment. Spare parts sales as well as maintenance and service contracts form a reliable basis for operational business and are supplemented by different engineering studies. The implementation of a major project for the automotive supplier Continental in Czechia was instrumental in the intralogistics sector also posting sales growth in the 2024/25 business year.
