Cult Cable Car On Southern Lake Garda Reopened After A 10-Year Break

At Lake Garda they are happy to welcome a good old friend again. Almost a decade has passed since the Prada-Costabella cable car on southern Monte Baldo was forced to close. Now it is back in operation, completely rebuilt and yet an attraction in the style of its iconic predecessor.
Like its predecessor, the cable car operates in two sections. The lower section, 2 km long, is called Prada - Ortigaretta and leads from the parking lot in the village of Prada (1014 m) to the Baito Turri alpine hut (1,550 m). It consists of a stand-up gondola, each of which can accommodate 2 people. A second 955 m long section to the Fiori del Baldo alpine hut (1,850 m) is bridged by a two-seater chairlift. Its predecessor was still in operation as a single-seater.
The cable car gives hikers from the holiday resorts of Brenzone sul Garda to the entire south-eastern shore of Lake Garda great access to the mountains of the "Garden of Europe", as Monte Baldo is also called because of its extraordinarily diverse flora.
Athletes will also appreciate the alternative to the cable car in Malcesine, further north. While paragliders can already enjoy the comfortable ascent to their jump sites, bikers will have to wait until next year. From 2023 it will then be possible to take the bikes up with you. the cable car will be equipped with the option of attaching mountain bikes to the lift system from outside.
