Bogus Basin Lift Mechanic Wins Ski Area Management’s 2025 Rise Up Challenge

Bogus Basin is thrilled to announce that Maddy Baldwin, a lift mechanic at the non-profit mountain, has been voted the winner of Ski Area Management (SAM) Magazine’s 2025 Rise Up Challenge. Baldwin and the Bogus Basin lift maintenance crew earned the top honor out of five national finalists, receiving 1,540 of the 3,893 total votes cast.
The Rise Up Challenge, sponsored by Leitner-Poma of America (LPOA), spotlights rising-star lift mechanics and their teams from ski areas across North America, celebrating the skill, dedication, and innovation behind lift operations. Each participating resort produced a behind-the-scenes video featuring a standout lift mechanic, which was shared online for readers to watch and vote.
In recognition of her achievement, Baldwin will receive a $3,500 educational grant provided by LPOA. The other four finalists also received grants ranging from $500 to $1,500 to honor their contributions to the industry.
“Maddy is a phenomenal member of our team — her skill, personality, and dedication make a huge difference every day. We couldn’t be prouder of her for earning this national recognition, and this award is well deserved.” said Brad Wilson, General Manager
Baldwin’s win reflects the hard work and expertise of the entire Bogus Basin lift maintenance team, whose efforts ensure the mountain’s lifts operate safely and efficiently for every guest.
