Winter Starts In Silvaplana With The Winter Opening From November 21 To 23, 2025

A kitesurfing hotspot in summer and a freestyle mecca in winter: Silvaplana lives and breathes outdoor sports 365 days a year! From Friday, November 21 to Sunday, November 23, 2025, the Engadin village invites you to the third edition of its Winter Opening.

The weekend marks the official start of the winter season in Silvaplana and on Corvatsch, featuring an exciting, colorful and diverse program for all ages in the valley: freestyle action in the streets of Silvaplana - whether at the street contest or in the Snow Kids Village, mixed with live music, DJ beats and culinary delights. And all this comes with free admission. Up on the mountain, the first runs of the season await in Corvatsch Park, one of the largest "playgrounds" for freeskiers and snowboarders in the Alps.

At the heart of it:  On Saturday, the centerpiece of the event is the “Silvaplana Rocks The Rail” contest. The Rail Jam for snowboarders and freeskiers has made a name for itself in recent years, impressing not only the local scene but also attracting more and more international riders. This comes as no surprise, as for one day, Via dal Güglia is transformed into an urban snow park for freestyle riders. Various obstacles such as rails, boxes, and wallrides are set up along the winding road toward the village square, ready to challenge young talents and seasoned pros alike. In the afternoon, kids and teens take the stage in the junior contest, competing in various age groups before the pros deliver a true trick spectacle in the evening, among them Swiss snowboarder Jeremy Denda. Anyone brave enough to take on the snowy streets can register soon. 

Festival vibes with Swiss rap: While the freestylers are tricking their way to the finish on one or two boards, Giganto takes over the main stage in the afternoon, delivering top-notch entertainment with his Romansh rap songs. Saturday evening wraps up with headliner LCone — a must-hear in the Swiss rap scene!
