Verbier Freeride Week Exploded Into Action With Four Successful Competitions Completed Behind Closed Doors

An amazing week of competition run in pristine alpine conditions has come to a close. Despite a challenging year, the Verbier Freeride Week by Dynastar was a huge success and, as always, was the perfect way for FWQ and FJT athletes to kick off the 2021 season.

Riders were spoiled with an amazing week of snow, but they were focused on scoring some early season points and showcasing their talent on three different venues across the resort. The best was saved for last, with the grande finale on Saturday run under cold, blue skies after days of snowfall.

FWQ 1*
For the first time this event was held on the “Col de Chargerat”. The winners included: Nicolas Lagger (SUI – snowboard men), Mia Brahms (GER – ski women) Kevin Kobler (SUI – ski men), and Malgorzata Sniegorska (POL – snowboard women). Their strong performances earning them all a spot in the 2* competitions.

FWQ 2* #1
This event saw an impressive variety of tricks and creative lines at the “Pointe de Sésale” venue. The winners were: Hugo Serra (FRA – snowboard men) – one of the FWT 2021 rookies giving us a sneak preview of his talents, Paul Dentan (SUI – ski men), Verbier local Sybille Blanjean (SUI – ski women) and Tiphanie Perrotin (FRA – snowboard women).

FWQ 2* #2
Athletes treated judges to a plethora of freestyle action at the “Les Ecuries” venue. Winners included: Manon Loschi (FRA – ski women) – hailing from La Clusaz (team Seb Michaud) she is a promising future contender for the FWT, Lalo Rambaud (FRA – ski men) – also from La Clusaz, Alex Rufibach (SUI – snowboard men) and Iyoma Fugain (FRA – snowboard women).

FJT 2*
The junior competitors put on an impressive show at the “Les Ecuries” venue. It’s exciting to see the level of competition at such a young age – with the U-18 category especially dazzling the judges. Winners included: Max Palm (FRA – ski men) – one of the top skiers in his category and 2020 Europe Oceania Junior Champion, Sonja Taudien (SUI – ski women), Eliot Dänzer (SUI – snowboard men) – Freeride Junior World Champion 2020 and Scarlett Veitch (GBR – snowboard women).

Congratulations to all the next generation of riders crushing it in Verbier this week! That concludes another successful edition of the Verbier Freeride Week by Dynastar. And now, the countdown is on for next year’s week, which will surely offer up another big show!

The FWT would also like to thank all their partners of the week: Verbier, Televerbier, Loterie Romande, Dynastar, Lange, Commune de Bagnes and all their suppliers

As always, the FWT complied with the rules and regulations set out in these unprecedented times, and this week was purely competition focused with physical closures of zones to limit public access and no side events. The sanitary measures in place were stricts to avoid public and groups of riders.
