Val Di Fassa Has New 3s Cable Car & World Cup Races For 2025/26 Season.

Val di Fassa kicks off the 2025/26 winter season with one of Italy's most modern mountain railways, international World Cup races, and strong athlete ambassadors from the German Ski Association. New infrastructure, spectacular sporting events, and the unique blend of Ladin culture and alpine flair make the valley one of the most exciting winter destinations in the Dolomites.
3S technology sets new standards
Val di Fassa is kicking off the 2025/26 winter season with a groundbreaking infrastructure project: the new 3S cable car Campitello-Col Rodella. The state-of-the-art system opens on Friday, December 19th, replacing the historic cable car from 1986 and is among the most innovative in the country.
With 16 cabins, each accommodating 30 people, heated seats, and expansive panoramic windows, the new lift increases transport capacity from 1,000 to 2,177 people per hour. This significantly improves not only comfort but also mobility throughout the valley. The lift facilitates quick access to the Val di Fassa – Carezza ski area and strengthens the direct connection to the Sellaronda circuit. Investments have also been made in other areas. New facilities such as the Lezuo gondola in Belvedere, the Franzin cable car in Carezza, and the modernized Cima Uomo chairlift in the San Pellegrino area ensure faster ascents and considerably shorter waiting times. The valley is thus ideally equipped for an efficient and comfortable ski season.
World Cup return in the Olympic year
In the Olympic year of 2026, Val di Fassa will once again take center stage in international skiing. The women's Alpine Ski World Cup returns on the weekend of March 7th and 8th, with a downhill race on Saturday and a Super-G on Sunday. The venue is the spectacular La VolatA course on Col Margherita, a 2.4-kilometer speed track that is among the most demanding in the Dolomites. Steep sections, technical transitions, and short reaction times require the athletes to demonstrate the utmost precision. Optimized safety zones and an expanded finish area ensure ideal conditions. Earlier, on Friday, January 30th, and Saturday, January 31st, the Monzoni Park will host the Ski Cross World Cup. This technically challenging course, with its fast turns, steep sections, and jumps of up to 30 meters, is considered the final major test before the Winter Olympics.
Strong testimonials: Linus Straßer and Emma Aicher
The Ambassador Pro project underscores the close connection between the Val di Fassa and elite sports. With Linus Straßer, who has been an ambassador for the valley for four seasons, and Emma Aicher, who joins the team this season, two outstanding German Ski Association (DSV) athletes represent the region's values. Both embody sporting excellence, passion, and authenticity, and strengthen the valley's international profile as a training and competition location.
A valley that combines future and tradition
With state-of-the-art infrastructure, top-class sporting events, and a unique blend of Ladin culture, hospitality, and diverse alpine experiences, Val di Fassa is embarking on a winter season that will be remembered. The valley demonstrates once again how tradition, innovation, and sporting energy merge to create an exceptional winter experience.
