Val d’Isere Kicks Off The Winter Season On 2nd December!

Following an exciting few days of heavy snowfall, Val d’Isère is ready to open for the winter season this Saturday 2nd December. Val d’Isère  returns for another season of exceptional winter sports and new offerings, with new luxury self-catered accommodation, après ski spots and traditional restaurants, as well as the launch of a four hour lift pass and free passes for children under eight.

The season begins with the annual First Tracks event. Running over the whole weekend, the event showcases the latest skis, snowboards and accessories for both beginners and keen skiers to enjoy and try before anyone else hits the slopes. Visitors and locals can also enjoy live music from DJs, après-ski concerts, raffles and warming mulled wine, as well as exclusive film screenings, such as olympic skier Clément Noël’s first film ‘Alpine Park’, kicking off the season on a high.

From Saturday 2nd December a wide selection of Val d’Isère’s 300km of slopes will reopen, including the most popular Solaise, Bellevarde, Fornet and Pisaillas runs, as well as the connection with Tignes, making for an exciting start to the season for winter sport enthusiasts. Snow fanatics can check up on their favourite slopes as more continue to open live on the Val d’Isère website

This year, the Val d’Isère Ski App will offer a simplified option for buying lift passes, saving guests time thanks to the contactless pass recharging system. Meanwhile, 28 new lift gates are being installed for this winter, which will enable 4-hour lift passes to be purchased, catering to the ever-growing demand from customers who are adopting a more “hybrid” style of ski holiday that combines time on the slopes with other activities

Visitors this year will also have the  chance to stay at one of Val d’Isère’s three new accommodation offerings, including Les Airelles luxury private chalet, Alpine Collection’s deluxe Silverstone Lodge and Le Val d’Isère Hotel’s penthouse Solaise Apartment. After a day out on the slopes guests can listen to cabaret at the iconic La Folie Douce, or dine at authentic new restaurants such as L’Alpin in the heart of the village. Travellers can also experience new wellness treatments at Le Yule or the RESET programme at  Le Refuge de Solaise, the highest hotel in the Alps, to truly reconnect the body and mind this winter.
