Two New 6-Seater Chairlifts Open In Dachstein-West

With the grand opening of the two new 6-seater chairlifts, Aussichtsberg and Angeralm, the Dachstein West ski region has reached another significant milestone in its tourism development. The two new lifts connect the ski resorts in Gosau (Upper Austria) and Annaberg (Salzburg) and thus serve as a powerful symbol of cross-border cooperation in alpine tourism. Since their commissioning last December, they have noticeably improved traffic flow in the ski area and provided a new, modern skiing experience.
“With the new Aussichtsberg and Angeralm 6-seater chairlifts, Dachstein West has achieved a true vision for the future. These lifts are a visible sign that targeted investments in quality, safety, and guest comfort are having an immediate impact. The high level of guest satisfaction confirms that we are on the right track. Around €22 million was invested in the two new lifts. This sustainably strengthens Dachstein West's position as Upper Austria's largest ski region and as a high-performing, family-friendly destination with an attractive price-performance ratio,” emphasized Markus Achleitner, Regional Minister for Economic Affairs and Tourism and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of OÖ Seilbahnholding GmbH, at the opening ceremony.
“These two new six-seater chairlifts represent the largest single investment in the history of Dachstein Tourism AG and are therefore far more than just an infrastructure project. They are a clear commitment to the long-term development of winter tourism in Dachstein West and to securing the region's competitiveness. Crucially, it is not only the technical quality of the lifts that matters, but also their strategic added value: modern infrastructure fosters trust among guests, partner businesses, and employees alike. This investment lays the foundation for the continued successful development of Dachstein West as a high-performing, family-friendly, and economically stable tourism destination for decades to come,” explained Provincial Councillor Martin Winkler, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Dachstein Tourism AG.
“The new 6-seater chairlifts represent a real quantum leap for Dachstein West. Our guests experience significantly more comfort thanks to heated seats and weather protection hoods, maximum safety through modern locking systems, and overall a smoother, more pleasant ride. We are particularly pleased that the lifts have been so well received from day one,” said Rupert Schiefer, Managing Director of OÖ Seilbahnholding GmbH and Board Member of Dachstein Tourismus AG, drawing a very positive conclusion from the first weeks of operation.
Both railways feature state-of-the-art technology, share a common valley station, a central garage with a loop station – a further step towards efficiency and sustainable operation.
“From the owners’ perspective, the investment in the two new six-seater chairlifts is a crucial step for the stability and future viability of the company, as well as for the countless businesses in the region that benefit directly or indirectly from the cable car operations – from accommodation and restaurants to retail and services. As Raiffeisen Salzburg, we stand for regional roots, responsibility, and sustainable growth. These values are precisely what this project reflects: a long-term vision, sound economic implementation, and clear benefits for the entire region. A high-performance cable car infrastructure is the foundation for regional value creation, employment, and trust – today and for future generations,” explained Andreas Derndorfer, Director of the Raiffeisen Association Salzburg and member of the Supervisory Board of Dachstein Tourism AG.
A strong signal for the future of winter tourism
With the successful commissioning, Dachstein West once again underscores its high standards for quality, innovation, and long-term site development. The new lifts make a significant contribution to regional economic activity, secure jobs, and sustainably strengthen winter tourism in the Salzkammergut region.
