TUV SUD To Open New Cable Car Safety Centre

TÜV SÜD in Austria, the specialist for industry, mobility and certification, is building the international competence center for safety and cable cars in the municipality of Wiesing in the Tyrolean district of Schwaz. Implementation has already begun, and at the end of the year 25 TÜV SÜD employees will move from the Jenbach site to the modern new building.

TÜV SÜD has been offering ropeway companies in Austria comprehensive services for long-term, safe and economical operation of ropeways since 1999. Dipl.-Ing. Peter Hofer, Head of the Cable Car Technology Division at TÜV SÜD in Austria, said: "Cable car expertise from Austria is in demand around the world: the TÜV SÜD team of experts is currently involved in international cable car projects in Georgia, Bolivia and Mexico - in the future also from Wiesing." 
State-of-the-art digital testing equipment 
The international competence center for safety and cable cars will be equipped with the latest digital test equipment. A total of 600 m2 of office space and 200 m2 of storage and technical rooms will be created. TÜV SÜD attaches great importance to sustainability: the new building has a photovoltaic system, modern air heat pump for heating and cooling, and e-charging stations. 
In addition to ropeway technology, the competence areas of electrical engineering, medical technology, machine safety, occupational safety and the certification of management systems will also find room in the new building. State-of-the-art office space is also being built for rent on the second floor.
