The Union Lab, Source FC, & Source Pro Bindings Are Officially Released

Union Binding Company was founded in Colico, Italy and Seattle Washington in 2005. Their goal was simple: Supply the best-fitting, highest-performing and most-durable bindings in the business. Since 2005 Union has become the global leader in snowboard binding manufacturing.

The Union Lab is brought to life within a state-of-the-art research and development facility, The Box. This facility and new category represent the pinnacle of scientific advancement and ingenuity. Equipped with the latest technology and materials, our team collaborates to push the boundaries of what’s possible, today launching two new bindings.

Union Source FC

The connection between the rider and the snowboard has never been closer. They've removed the mounting disk, reduced the baseplate height, shaved off hundreds of grams of excess material and completely changed the way that the rider's energy is transferred from the body to the snowboard. Mounting System

Union’s all-new Direct Connect System is just that — a direct connection between you and your snowboard. By fully removing the disk from the baseplate, Union has been able to drastically improve the reaction speed between the rider and the snowboard, increase baseplate strength, and simultaneously reduce the overall weight of the binding. Disks are a thing of the past. This all-new mounting system only relies on two screws and two washers to get the job done.

Two Layer Baseplate Construction

A traditional snowboard baseplate is made of a single layer with the same material and stiffness throughout. Union exclusive Two-Layer baseplate construction allows us to have two individual layers: the Core [1] and the Frame [2]. Each layer has the possibility of using a unique material and stiffness to achieve the desired ride feel of the binding.

Union’s Lightest Baseplate Ever

The Duraflex CB Halo Baseplate Frame is lightest baseplate Union has ever created, while still maintaining the mandatory strength-to-weight ratios needed to pass Union’s strict durability tests. The frame also plays the critical role of connecting the baseplate core, bottom bushing, heelcup, ankle and toe straps together. Made with partially sustainable carbon injected Duraflex CB Nylon.

Hi-Flex EVA Bushing gives Cushioning and Shock Absorption+ Volume Reduction

More durable and more cushioned than traditional thermoformed EVA. Hi-Flex EVA bushings act as an additional layer of dampening and shock absorption between you and your snowboard and never lose shape over time. Your knees and feet will thank you. This all-new reduced volume bushing design allows the rider to be as close to the topsheet as possible.

S18 Source Forged Carbon Highback is 40% Lighter than standard Union nylon highbacks.

The S18 Source Forged Carbon highback is 40% lighter than their standard nylon highbacks and extremely responsive edge-to-edge. Made in Italy using Union exclusive Forged Carbon.

Forged Carbon Heelcup

Lightweight, responsive, and made in Italy. Union’s Forged Carbon heelcups are 45% lighter than the standard Extruded Aluminum heelcups and still just as bombproof. Backed by Union’s lifetime warranty guarantee.

Phantom Slim Ankle Strap

25% lighter than the standard Exoframe 4.0 Ankle Strap and still just as comfortable. The new Phantom Slim Ankle Strap features a smaller ratchet, smaller ladder, and a new streamlined lightweight ankle strap design to help reduce weight and materials as much as possible. You won’t even notice that it’s there.

TS 6.0 Toe Strap

TS 6.0 toe straps keep you locked in for the ride down without letting you know they're there. A new, shorter buckle base helps to reduce weight and pressure points. Easily adjust to any boot with the quick turn of a lightweight titanium screw. This is the lightest toe strap on the market.

Duraflex Blue

Union Binding Company is proud to partner with Envalior to introduce their most eco-conscious nylon to date. This new material is a member of the Envalior sustainable product family, attributed with a remarkable 90% of sustainable raw materials, based on a mass balance approach. In addition to being more sustainable than traditional plastics, this material has passed all of Union’s in-house quality control tests for strength, durability in cold temperatures and product lifecycle. Raw Materials:90% Bio Based Derived from renewable crops, such as canola (rapeseed oil).
