TechnoAlpin Launches Xelom – All Terrain Electric Vehicles – Electromobility Made In Bolzano

The TechnoAlpin owned Xelom, based in Bolzano, which specializes in all terrain electromobility, presented itself to the general public for the first time at the NOI Techpark South Tyrol. The innovative company develops electric vehicles for various areas of application in difficult terrain and has been part of TechnoAlpin Holding since 2023.

In 2019, xelom was founded under the name E-Powertrac in the NOI Techpark South Tyrol with the aim of developing electrically powered vehicles for various areas of application. The NOI Techpark network was crucial for the rapid development of a prototype and continuous further development. In 2022, a cooperation with EmiControls, a company in the TechnoAlpin Group, resulted in the first market-ready product “Dust Cat” for use in quarries and mining. Through this collaboration, TechnoAlpin recognized xelom's potential and acquired the company in 2023.

"xelom fits perfectly into our strategy for a more sustainable future. Our group's sustainability efforts are diverse and cover various areas, from reducing energy requirements to increasing the use of renewable energies. With our products, we make a significant contribution to reducing the ecological footprint of ski resorts. We have set new standards in the field of snowmaking in recent years. With xelom, we are now going one step further," explains TechnoAlpin Managing Director Erich Gummerer.

The takeover initiated a comprehensive restructuring process and the team was continuously expanded. This also enabled the product range to be expanded for various areas of application. In addition to the "Dust Cat" for industrial dust control, the "Snow Cat" ensures emission-free preparation of slopes and cross-country trails. "Last winter, numerous ski resorts and indoor ski halls across Europe had the opportunity to test the "Snow Cat". The feedback was consistently positive and the market is ready for this new type of mobility. But there were also many new impulses for further development," says Gummerer.

The Alpin 10 product was developed for agriculture, a fully electric mowing machine that is characterized by a highly efficient drive, a quick-change battery system and simple operation and is particularly suitable for steep slopes.

“All of the Snow Cat, Dust Cat and Alpin 10 products that have been launched so far impress with their off-road mobility, their extraordinary range and their fully electric drive,” says xelom CTO Thomas Waldner, summarizing the advantages. “All products are designed from the ground up as electric vehicles. Each component is specifically developed for use in electric off-road vehicles. “We are not restricted by previous product lines or specifications, but can design the vehicles from scratch,” Waldner continued.

All products are developed and produced at two locations in Bolzano. The company now employs 27 people in a variety of areas. The activities range from mechanical engineering to software development and logistics to production. A service team is also already available.

For Johannes Brunner, Head of Automotive at the NOI Techpark, xelom “stands for the concrete implementation of our regional innovation strategy by our innovative companies and shows once again what is possible in our innovation ecosystem. The NOI Techpark with its high density of developers, entrepreneurs, experts, laboratories and specialist events is the ideal place for the rapid realization of such projects.”

Mayor Renzo Caramaschi was pleased to be able to present xelom, another high-tech company in Bolzano. Innovative and high-tech products like those from xelom enrich the business location and contribute to the positive image of the city of Bolzano and the state of South Tyrol worldwide.
