The Snow Has Arrived At Tahoe

It’s a Happy New Year indeed at South Lake Tahoe as area ski resorts received nearly 1meter of new snow over mountain peaks through the Christmas and New Year break and a promising forecast calling for more during the first week of 2026.

Heavenly Mountain Resort received 43cm of new snow in the past 48 hours and now boasts 98 of 111 trails open; Sierra-at-Tahoe has 40am of fresh snow and 40 of 48 trails; Kirkwood has 73cm of snow with 55 of 85 trails open. “Our resorts primed the skiing pump with their snowmaking capabilities but now we're talking top to bottom skiing and riding for visitors and locals with our legendary sunny days between storms,” said Carol Chaplin, president and CEO of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority. “Our locals and partners in lodging, restaurants, attractions, entertainment and gaming are welcoming 2026 with open arms!”
