Sun Peaks Turns Up The Summer Heat With Music, Arts & Mountain Fun

Sun Peaks is keeping the momentum going with a stacked calendar of events running through September, making it one of B.C.’s top summer alpine destinations.
Things kick off July 4–5 with Rockin’ in the Peaks, a concert weekend featuring Big Sugar, 54-40, Philip Sayce, and Wide Mouth Mason. On July 5, the first of three First Fridays brings artisan markets, food specials, and street performances to the village.
Later in the summer, visitors can look forward to:
- Speed Week (July 18-20) - a celebration of all things fast, from gravel races to car shows
- Retro Concert Weekend (Aug 22-24) - three days of high-energy tribute bands in the village
- Alpenglow Arts Festival (Sept 5-7) - visual art, workshops, and a performance by Jesse Cook
- Paws in the Peaks (Sept 12-14) - a dog-friendly festival with races, treats, and pet vendors
Ongoing programming includes Sunday Market Days through October, Friday night live music, and guided hiking and biking experiences on over 84 km of alpine trails.
From concerts to canine parades, Sun Peaks has something happening nearly every weekend, building on its reputation as the ultimate destination for a summer mountain getaway.
Looking for a new way to explore Sun Peaks this summer? Trade your hiking boots for a Jeep Rubicon and let Mountain Man Adventure Tours take the wheel. The new “Jeepers Creepers” Jeep Tour offers guests a rugged yet relaxed way to explore the backcountry trails, alpine lakes, and panoramic viewpoints surrounding Sun Peaks Resort, without breaking a sweat.
Launched in June 2024, this two-hour guided off-road tour gives visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the region’s terrain, wildlife, and alpine ecology. Led by longtime local guide “Joe,” whose storytelling and expertise bring the mountains to life, the ride winds through narrow backcountry trails with the top down when weather allows, revealing quiet alpine lakes, sweeping forest views, and picture-perfect vistas you wouldn’t reach on foot.
Tours are available throughout the week, with convenient pickup and drop-off from Sun Peaks Village or guest accommodations. The Jeep Rubicon comfortably fits three to four guests, making it a great option for families, couples, or small groups. Evening departures are especially popular, starting at 7 PM to capture golden-hour light over the mountains.
The Jeepers Creepers tour is an accessible, memorable way to experience the natural beauty surrounding Sun Peaks and is ideal for visitors looking to go beyond the village or simply enjoy the mountains from a different perspective.
Honeyberry Farm Market: Home of the Haskap Berry and a Taste of Real Local
Just before you reach Sun Peaks, a small turn off the road leads to a big discovery: Honeyberry Farm Market, a family-run farmstand offering fresh, spray-free produce and one of B.C.’s most unique superfruits - the haskap berry.
Also known as a honeyberry, the haskap is native to Russia, Japan, and northeast China, and known in Japanese as the “berry of longevity and fruit of vision.” With a taste described as a mix of blueberry, blackcurrant, and raspberry, it’s tart, bold, and packed with flavour.
Beyond flavour, these berries are a nutritional powerhouse, boasting three times more antioxidants than blueberries and more vitamin C than an orange. They’re also rich in vitamin A, potassium, and fiber, with only 60 calories per 2/3 cup.
At Honeyberry Farm, the seasonal U-Pick experience allows visitors to hand-pick fresh berries in early July for just $ 6 per pound, or opt for ready-picked berries at $10 per pound. You’ll also find haskap berries transformed into special jams and syrups.
Located on family land dating back to 1962, Honeyberry Farm Market is operated by Glenn Johnson and Mary Marchuk. Beyond berries, the market sells farm-fresh eggs, garlic jellies like the popular “Stinky Rose,” and locally milled honey. There are picnic tables, a kid-friendly tractor, and even a few farm animals.
Whether you're stocking up on unique superfruits or looking for an authentic stop on your way to the mountains, Honeyberry Farm Market is a true taste of local.
Big Flavours & Local Finds: Sun Peaks’ Food Scene Heats Up This Summer
This summer, Sun Peaks isn’t just serving up alpine adventures, it’s plating some seriously inspired food and drink. From smokehouse platters to farmers’ market-fresh menus, the village’s restaurant scene is full of bold flavours, local ingredients, and creative twists that reflect the laid-back, mountain-loving vibe of the community.
- Morrisey’s Public House is diving into smokehouse territory with a new summer menu built around slow-cooked, smoky goodness. Their show-stopping platter is designed to share and lets you sample a bit of everything they do best.
- At Vertical Café, owners Tania and Rob (who also happens to be the mayor) head to the Kamloops Farmers’ Market every Wednesday to hand-pick produce for the week ahead. The result? A hyper-local, ever-changing menu that reflects what’s freshest in the region.
- For something low-key and delicious, Magic Cattle Guard has a new Friday special: a house-smoked pulled pork sandwich with a rich, smoky bite and a vegetarian twist available with grilled portobello mushrooms. Think hearty, satisfying mountain fare, with options for everyone.
- Over at Cahilty Creek Kitchen & Taproom, the slopeside patio is the place to be on a sunny day, especially with their standout summer cocktail: a cucumber vanilla gin spritz made with Okanagan Spirits Gin. Light, refreshing, and unmistakably local.
- Bottoms Bar & Grill, known for its fun, casual vibe, is stepping it up with a globally inspired summer menu that’s fresh, bright, and light. They’ve even introduced a dedicated QR code menu just for gluten-free diners, making it easier than ever to enjoy a meal that suits your needs.
From patio spritzes to house-smoked specials, the food and beverage scene at Sun Peaks pairs perfectly with the fresh mountain air.
