Steinplatte-Winklmoosalm Celebrates Company's 50th Anniversary

As early as 1972, cable car pioneer Andrä Brandtner sen. the cornerstones with the construction of three drag lifts and the high road from Waidring. To this day, the Steinplatte is a popular paradise for ski and snowboard fans with sunny, snow-sure and fantastic views in the middle of the border triangle of Tyrol, Salzburg and Bavaria.

50 years of successful family business - a pioneer with foresight

What does it take to achieve sunny skiing fun on 42 perfectly groomed kilometers of pistes? An avid skier who is not discouraged by big investments. And that's what Steinplatte found in Andrä Brandtner. Together with business partners, the Plattenkogel, Schwarzlofer and Kammerkör 1 drag lifts were built, at that time still with diesel engines. In 1975 the double chair lift Plattenkogel 2 and 4 years later the Bäreck lift and the chapel lift. In 1979 his son Andreas joined the company as managing partner and was involved in all projects from then on.

A milestone came in 1985 with the first detachable quad chairlift in Austria and in 1990 with the construction of one of the first snow-making facilities in the region. After decades of planning and preparation, the German side was finally better connected in 2009 with the construction of the Winklmoosalmbahn from Seegatterl to the Winklmoosalm.

With Andi Jr. and Florian Brandtner is already the 3rd generation active in the management and is constantly working on the continued existence of a modern and economically successful family company.
In the coming winter, further investments will be made in customer satisfaction. Ticket machines and e-charging stations are among the new offers for the 2022/23 winter season.

Modern in the Triassic period

Where the dinosaurs romped around in primeval times, the whole family can now have a lot of fun. In 2008, an innovative step was taken for summer tourism with the opening of the Triassic Park, which is constantly expanding. In addition to life-size dinosaurs, there is one highlight after another, and so in the summer of 2009 a viewing platform in the form of a coral was built, hovering 70 m above the ground.

Wide pistes, great descents!

In addition to the good accessibility, the Steinplatte can trump with a sunny plateau location with guaranteed snow. With its wide slopes and easy to moderately difficult runs, the ski area is perfect for beginners as well as experienced winter sports enthusiasts. Here the children can also cruise down the “Funline” on their own or take part in the colorful weekly program away from the slopes. The best entertainment is guaranteed - from the family campfire to the dinosaur expedition with a visit from the mascot "Triassi".

Winter fun for everyone!

With its 1.5 km length, the Snowpark Steinplatte, which is freshly shaped every day, makes freestylers' hearts beat faster: Over 50 elements on 4 different lines want to be rocked! The little ones let off steam on the Triassic Funline. Even non-skiers will find snow-white happiness on the Steinplatte. On the Waidringer side you can expect fantastic views during winter hikes, for example to the viewing platform or to the stalactite cave. Cross-country skiers are particularly enthusiastic about the cross-country ski paradise on the Winklmoosalm. By the way, it is also a very nice area for snowshoeing - easily accessible with the Winklmoosalmbahn.
