Snowfall In Mammoth Marks The Beginnings Of The Winter Season

Mammoth Lakes has seen its first snowfall of the 2025 season this week, with more expected to fall in the coming days. One month out from the opening of its 72nd season on the 14th of November, the resort has seen nearly a foot of new snow at higher elevations, marking the beginning of the winter season. 

The resort has seen over a foot of snow so far with more expected in the coming days, as it heads into the final month before lifts open for the winter season. Mammoth is California’s highest chairlift serviced peak and sees incredible snow conditions, with four base lodges, 150 named trails, 11 terrain parks and 3,500 acres of skiable terrain, the mountain is an endless source of adventure for skiers and boarders.

Alongside skiing and boarding, visitors can enjoy a plethora of winter activities, from snowshoeing and cross-country skiing on over 140 miles (225 km) of cross-country track to exploring the Eastern Sierra on 80 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. Alternatively, head to Woolly’s Adventure Summit where the whole family can get involved in sledding and tubing, zip down the hill in a high-speed snow tube and simply take the magic carpet back to the top to do it again and again
