Ski Cross Racers Erik & David Mobärg Ready For Milan Cortina Olympics – Among The First Swedes Selected

The Swedish Olympic Committee has selected the basis for the Swedish Olympic squad. 25 athletes and twelve teams were given the go-ahead on Wednesday to compete in Milano Cortina 2026, and brothers Erik and David Mobärg from Edsåsdalen are included in the first squad selection.

Almost 100 athletes have been training together at the Olympic Camp in Crete in recent days as SOK builds the Swedish squad. In addition to having access to SOK's resource people, practical information is also being collected ahead of the games and the first Swedish athletes are being selected to compete in the Olympics next year.

Brothers Erik and David Mobärg from Edsåsdalen have been selected for the Olympics in the ski cross competitions. Erik has a fourth place in Beijing as his best Olympic placing, two individual World Championship medals and two World Cup victories. Brother David has eleven individual World Cup victories, but also a World Championship gold in the mixed team. They will be ready to compete at the Olympic competitions in Livigno, Italy.

"Third time lucky!" Erik says of his selection, where he has clearly set his sights on placing better than the fourth place he has at his best at his previous two Olympics.

David Mobärg has no less ambitious ambitions: "My goal is not to make it to the Olympics without winning a medal."

"I see that this is a good start and that we have several more who should be relevant for an upcoming Olympic selection." says Eric Iljans, head coach for ski cross at the Swedish Ski Association.

"This was our first selection. We hope that the squad will contain approximately 130 athletes by February next year" says SOK's sports director and squad manager Fredrik Joulamo and continues "Our goal for the Olympic squad is to have the capacity to win 20 medals. We had our best winter games so far last time in Beijing with 18 medals and the squad for Milano Cortina next year looks to have a similar level."

The competitions begin on February 4, the games are inaugurated on February 6 and end on February 22. The ski cross competitions will be held in Livigno along with freeskiing, freestyle and snowboarding.
