Second Stop Of The Rock A Rail Ski & Snowboard Tour 2025 At The 5-Year Anniversary Of Freestyle Roots Festival

After a successful kick-off of the Rock A Rail Ski & Snowboard Tour 2025 presented by Snowfest in Hintertux last week, the tour is heading straight into its second stop this weekend at the 5th anniversary of Freestyle Roots Festival. It offers a diverse program for all generations. From October 10–12, everything in Thun revolves around freestyle sports and culture: skate, bike, trampolines, breaking, graffiti, concerts, DJs, rap battles – and of course, snowboard and freeski. Sunday is all about families, featuring workshops, shows, and interactive sessions. Freestyle Roots is colorful, creative, and brings the freestyle spirit right into the heart of the city.

The Rock A Rail Ski & Snowboard Tour is now in its third year, standing for urban street style at the highest level for both snowboarders and freeskiers. It’s the leading international format for street-snowboard and street-ski contests, known for creative setups and progressive riding. The brand-new 2025 setup, which passed its first test in Hintertux, offers endless possibilities for technical and stylish tricks. Thun marks the second stop of five on this year’s fall tour.

Just days ago, the Rock A Rail ramp was standing in Zillertal – now it’s ready for action in Thun. On Friday, an open qualification will determine the final wildcards for the main showdown on Saturday, where the winners will join the invited riders to battle for the tour stop title.

Top Riders Ready to Drop In. Among the snowboard women, the top three from last season are ready to compete with Livia Tannò (SUI), the reigning Rock A Rail Queen, aiming to defend her title; Paula Benito (ESP), runner-up in Hintertux a week ago and Anne-Sophie Lechon (BEL). The snowboard men’s field features some big names: Olympian Nicolas Huber (SUI), Rock A Rail Tour Champion 2024 Leon Gütl (GER), and 2023 The Hague winner Mees Oostdijk (NED).

In the freeski category, riders from seven nations take on the new setup, including Ellen Damsgaard (DEN) and Lou Carraz (FRA), both fresh from the Hintertux kick-off. The 2024 Thun men’s podium returns in full force with last year’s winner Michael Oravec (SVK), Bendik Rasmussen (NOR), who has competed in every Rock A Rail Ski event so far, and Tim Aufdermauer (SUI), all set for another exciting showdown in Thun. A strong local Swiss squad joins the lineup, including Nils Rhyner and Till Matti.

Freestyle Spirit in the Heart of Thun. For three days, Thun is the meeting point of the freestyle community – packed with sport, music, street culture, and pure passion for urban lifestyle.
